በማህበራዊ ሚድያዎች ከሚዘዋወሩት ሀሰተኛ መረጃዎች መካከል የተቀነባበሩ ወይም የተለወጡ ምስሎች ይገኙበታል። የተለያዩ የቴክኖሎጂ ውጤቶች መረጃን ለማጣራት እንደሚውሉት ሁሉ መረጃዎችን በማዛባት እና ለውጥ በማድረግ ሌላ ትርጉም እንዲሰጡ በማድረግ ጥቅም ላይ እየዋሉ ይገኛሉ። ከሰሞኑ በቱርክ እና በሶርያ ድንበር አካባቢ ከተከሰተው የመሬት መንቀጥቀጥ ጋር ተያይዞ ሀሰተኛ መረጃዎች ሲዘዋወሩ ነበር።

ከሀሰተኛ መረጃዎቹ መካከል ፌስቡክ እና ኢንስታግራምን ጨምሮ በሌሎች የማህበራዊ ሚድያ አማራጮች ላይ “በቱርክ የሚገኙ አንድ ኢማም በፍርስራሽ ውስጥ የነበሩ 3 ሰዎችን ያዳነውን ውሻ እጅ ሲስሙ” በሚል ፅሁፍ ስር አንድ ምስል በስፋት ሲዘዋወር ነበር። ነገር ግን ምስሉ በፈረንጆቹ 2011 ተጋርቶ የነበረና ቶማዝ ጀስኪ (Tomasz Jaeschke) በሚል ስም የሚጠራ የሀይማኖት አስተማሪን የሚያሳይ ነው።
