Greece's diplomatic moves in face of Turkish provocation continue. According to diplomatic sources, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, in a letter to Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi underlines that Turkey continues to unilaterally violate the EU-Turkey customs union by adopting unen foreseen tariff, legislative and equivalent measures. In this context, according to the same sources, it asked the European Commission to examine immediately the adoption of further measures.

🔹It is no secret that Turkey does not want to cease it's occupation and reduce their influence over Cyprus.

🔹The new "president", Ersin Tatar is a pro-Erdogan politician who will now most likely push the Erdogan agenda, claiming that despite not agreeing with the end of the occupation, the "Turkish Cypriots" deserve a share of the revenues from Gas exploration by Cyprus (Turkey and "Northern Cyprus" don't recognize Cyprus as a legitimate state).

🔹Another common talking point is that Turkey and "Northern Cyprus" are proposing a two-state scenario to "solve the situation", giving legitimacy to their illegally occupied territories. Turkey also does not want to make compromises regarding that scenario and keeps claiming ownership of regions such as Farmagusta that can't be settled by the so called "Turkish Cypriots" because they were not from the city and according to a UN resolution, only the original inhabitants will be allowed to resettle the city when the situation is solved
