The restoration of the head of the Croatian Apoxymenos discovered on the island of Lošinj
The Croatian Apoxyomenos is one of the rare preserved Greek statues which used to adorn Greek temples and cities, especially their training grounds (gymnasion, palaistra). The statue was raised from the sea in the vicinity of the islet of Vele Orjule near Lošinj, in 1999. An apoxyomenos, literally translated as ‘scraper’, is the name given to an ancient Greek sculpture of an athlete depicted in the act of scraping sweat and dust from his body with a small curved instrument after exercising.
It is generally thought that the Croatian statue is most likely a Hellenistic or a Roman copy of an original that was probably made during the fourth century BC. Bronze statues like this did not survive antiquity as they were melted down to make dishes, weapons, tools and coins. After the Croatian Apoxyomenos was raised from the sea in 1999, it was extensively restored. It was not publicly displayed until 2006.

/GBG/🟢 The EU pressuring Turkey to sign UNCLOS will lead to more conflict with Turkey since the key to their foreign policies lie on the idea that UNCLOS violates their rights and that they should own half of the Aegean, even ignoring Greek islands' EEZ among other things defined by international law

⚠️‼️ IMPORTANT ‼️⚠️
🔴 Greek new year disgrace
🔹 "Due to COVID" and the "Pandemic" the New Year celebrations were cancelled by the Government in Greece. As a result, Greeks ended up not taking to the streets as fines were most likely feared and expected in case people celebrated in the streets
‼️ On the other hand, Pakistanis, Africans, Arabs and other immigrants in general went to all of Greece's major squares to celebrate, they roamed freely and undisturbed by the Authorities, most not even respecting the mask rules that cause the police to fine so many of its own Greek Citizens
⚠️ The videos on this post are from Athens (5 of them in different spots) and Cyprus (the last one), being these the two largest cities in the country
⚠️ The videos from Athens are from Ominia Square and several other places in downtown Athens, in one of them an immigrant is seen mocking the Greek Prime Minister
⚠️ The Cypriot video is from Platia Elefteria of Nicosia, which costed 50 Million Euros to be restored
