🔸 It is debated whether the senior emperor represented is Constans II (641-668) or his son Constantine IV (668-685)

🔸 Restored inscription: "Constantinus Maior Imperator/Heraclii et Tiberii Imperator" - “Constantine the senior emperor, Heraclius and Tiberius emperors”

🔸 It was long held that it depicts Constantine IV and his brothers Heraclius and Tiberius giving privileges to Archbishop Reparatus, however it has also been argued that it depicts Constans II and his grant of autocephaly to (Arch)bishop Maurus (which was commissioned by Reparatus)

🔸 The Mosaic of Imperial Privileges is clearly an imitation of the San Vitale mosaic with Justinian and his court

🔸 The anda-ending of its name suggests an origin in the Anatolian Bronze Age, which makes Arykanda one of the oldest Lycian cities.
