▫️Vocabularyကိုလေ့လာရာမှာ ထိရောက်တဲ့ နည်းလမ်းတွေများစွာရှိပါတယ်။ ဥပမာအနေနဲ့ flashcardsတွေရှိမယ်၊ ထပ်ခါထပ်ခါရွတ်ဖတ်ပြီးလေ့လာတာတွေရှိမယ်၊ memonic deviceတွေနဲ့ Duolingoတို့လို language appsတွေကိုသုံးလို့လည်းရပါတယ်။ သို့သော်လည်း အထိရောက်ဆုံးနည်းကိုပြောပါဆိုရင်တော့ “contextual learning”နဲ့ “practical usage” ဖြစ်ပါလိမ့်မယ်။

Themselves vs. Theirselves

“Themselves”နဲ့ “Theirselves”က အတူတူပဲလား ❓

“Theirselves” ဆိုတာက အသုံးမှားလေ့ရှိတဲ့ common misspelling တစ်ခုဖြစ်ပြီး တကယ့်စကားလုံးတစ်ခုမဟုတ်ပါဘူး။ ဒါကြောင့် Formal writing နဲ့ speech မှာ ရှောင်ရမဲ့အမှားတစ်ခုဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

Example: They prepared theirselves for the exam. ❌

“Themselves”ကမှ စာလုံးပေါင်းအမှန်ဖြစ်ပြီး “they”ရဲ့ reflexive pronounတစ်ခုပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ Reflexive pronounsတွေကိုများသောအားဖြင့် Subject နဲ့ Object တူညီတဲ့အချိန်မျိုးတွေမှာ သုံးပါတယ်။

“ice cream”နဲ့ “ice-cream”နှစ်ခုစလုံးက ရေခဲမုန့်ကိုဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ဒါပေမဲ့ သူတို့နှစ်ခုရဲ့အဓိကကွာခြားချက်က စာလုံးပေါင်းနဲ့ အသုံးပြုပုံပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

“ice cream”ဆိုတဲ့ အသုံးကိို‌တော့ Americanနဲ့ British Englishမှာ ကျယ်ကျယ်ပြန့်ပြန့်သုံးကြပြီး စာအုပ်စာပေတွေမှာလည်းတွေ့နိုင်ပါတယ်။

Hyphen(-)နဲ့ “ice-cream”ကိုတော့ တစ်ခါတလေ British Englishနဲ့ ရှေးစာပေတွေမှာတွေ့ရပေမဲ့ Nounတစ်ခုအနေနဲ့သိပ်အသုံးမများပါဘူး။
