HSBC slapped with whopping $85MN fine for anti-money laundering failings

The Financial Conduct Authority has fined the banking giant £64 million for major failings in its anti-money laundering processes over eight years. (Reuters)

Three key parts of the bank’s transaction monitory systems in the UK showed serious weaknesses between 2010 and 2018.

The FCA said HSBC failed to inadequately monitor money laundering and finance for terrorism scenarios until 2014, and conducted poor risk assessment analysis after 2016.
