My new act of rebellion is taking my time.

For most of my life, I’ve moved fast; worked fast, decided fast, achieved fast, reacted fast. Always rushed, always stressed.

I learned to carry pressure like a second skin, to wear exhaustion as an inevitable side effect of life; the unquestionable proof that I was doing enough, being enough, keeping up. And it worked, until I realised that the speed itself had become the prison.

Time, once just the dynamic backdrop, has become the battleground. Everything is designed to move faster than we can think: information floods in, demands multiply, decisions are rushed, attention is fractured. We are all being pushed to live in reaction mode, never reflection, always catching up, never arriving. The clock is no longer a tool; it’s a weapon. And I’m done surrendering to it.

So this is my quiet revolution: I am taking my time back!

I now walk slower, read slower, write slower. I cook without checking the clock, I pause before I speak and I let silence do its work. I am learning to sit with things — not rush to fix them or frame them, but actually live with them, and in doing so, I’m finding a kind of freedom I didn’t know I had been missing; the kind that comes not from escaping the world but from stepping out of its imposed rhythm.

There is power in reclaiming your own pace.

There is sovereignty in choosing presence over urgency.

In a world engineered to make us feel incapable, overwhelmed, and out of sync with ourselves, I’m choosing to be deliberate: to move like I’m the one setting the tempo, not following someone else’s metronome. This isn’t laziness, it’s a return to sanity, to the body’s wisdom, to the timing of our soul and to the rhythm of things that matter.
