A 23-year-old Syrian asylum seeker who arrived in the UK by boat has been jailed for four years for sexually assaulting two young women in Falkirk, Scotland, on the same night.

Muhammad Sheikhi carried out both attacks in the early hours of November 30, 2025, while staying at the Cladhan Hotel, which was being used to house asylum seekers.

Sheikhi first targeted a woman in her early 20s near a railway bridge, where he hugged and repeatedly kissed her without consent before sexually assaulting her.

He later targeted another young woman as she walked home alone after a night out, following her toward a skate park and pinning her against a tree before sexually assaulting her.

Sheikhi told police he had simply been “roaming around” because he had nobody at the hotel to socialize with.
