Unrelated, but actually completely related. Here is a map of China's original Silk Road from the First Century AD, alongside a map of the New Silk Road from many years ago.
I've also included a map from Pepe Escobar's 2009 article, "Pipelineistan," where he posited that the Forever Wars of the Middle East were really about control of geography for trade/energy, mentioning BRIC (no South Africa) countries aligning with an Islamic triangle comprised of Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Turkey, all organized under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. (Exactly what is happening right now.) It's definitely worth a read.

I'm skeptical that this is the actual agreement that Steve Witkoff has alluded to, because it does not require Israel to recognize Palestinian statehood, and does not restore the Israeli-Palestinian borders to 1967 conditions-- the non-negotiable sticking points for the Saudis to join the Accords.
I could end up being wrong, but that's my instinctive take.

US President Donald Trump’s privately owned investment company held preliminary talks this spring with an Israeli real estate developer about branding and managing a new hotel being built in Tel Aviv, the New York Times reported Wednesday.
According to the report, Eric Trump, the president’s son, met with the heads of the Nitsba Holdings about investing in the under-construction Sarona Hotel, expected to become Israel’s tallest hotel when it opens. Such a deal would likely emblaze the Trump name along the top of the Tel Aviv skyline.
The talks took place several weeks before Israel launched its preemptive strike against Iran’s nuclear program, which joined by the United States when Trump ordered strikes on the Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan nuclear facilities.

Key players from the US and the Middle East have talked with the Iranians behind the scenes even amid the flurry of military strikes in Iran and Israel over the past two weeks, the sources said. Those discussions have continued this week after a ceasefire deal was struck, the sources said.
Trump administration officials emphasized that several proposals have been floated. They are preliminary and evolving with one consistent non-negotiable: zero Iranian enrichment of uranium, which Iran has consistently said it needs.
