Some are speculating that this is part of a white hat op. I’m skeptical. This guy’s father was installed by the CIA in 1953 because his predecessor tried to nationalize the oil— and he was overthrown by the CIA in 1979 when he refused to renew the 25-year Consortium Agreement that had given the oil back to the British.

You would think that the son has been kept on ice all these years in case a coup in Tehran became necessary. If anything, he is likely working with the regime-change operators, who are hardly “white hats.”
