🇪🇺🇺🇸 European leaders plan to speak with Trump before his upcoming call with Putin, according to the German Chancellor. He stated that the four heads of state and government agreed to hold another conversation with the U.S. President as part of preparations for the dialogue.
Merz said he discussed this possibility with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the inaugural mass of Pope Leo XIV. Reuters also reported that the German Chancellor had a lengthy conversation with Zelensky at the Vatican.

The president of the World Jewish Congress, Ronald Lauder, criticized Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich at a conference in Jerusalem on Tuesday and accused the Israeli government of failing to understand the damage that his inflammatory statements on the Gaza war are causing to the country’s reputation.
Lauder directed his comments to Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, who was attending the WJC meeting.
“Let me tell you, all the good things that Israel is doing are being destroyed by Smotrich,” said Lauder. “Because his statements about starving the people and destroying [Gaza] were played all over the world, and the prime minister has the chance to stop him from saying these things, and will not do it. The question is, why not?”
Why not? Because he can't. He has been put in a political pincer move (most likely by Trump) : if Smotrich (who controls 15 seats in the Knesset) abandons Netanyahu's coalition, the government will collapse and new elections will be scheduled.

This is a major signal that President Trump is going to use Erdogan and the Turkish military to drive the IDF out of Syria. Netanyahu knows he can’t attack the Turks, because it would trigger Article 5 of the NATO treaty and bring Israel into war with the entire Anglosphere, including the United States.
