Slovak PM Fico touches down in Moscow to join leaders for Victory Day

Far later than he’d planned thanks to Baltics blocking airspace for his jet.

He had to fly through Hungary, Romania and Georgia instead.

“The United States is no longer demanding Saudi Arabia normalise ties with Israel as a condition for progress on civil nuclear cooperation talks, two sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters ahead of U.S. President Donald Trump's visit next week.

Dropping the demand that Saudi Arabia establish diplomatic relations with Israel would be a major concession by Washington. Under former President Joe Biden, nuclear talks were an element of a wider U.S.-Saudi deal tied to normalisation and to Riyadh's goal of a defence treaty with Washington.

The kingdom has repeatedly said it would not recognise Israel without a Palestinian state, frustrating Biden administration attempts to expand the Abraham Accords signed during Trump's first term. Under those accords the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco normalised relations with Israel. Progress towards Saudi recognition of Israel has been halted by fury in Arab countries over the war raging in Gaza. The nuclear talks had also stumbled over Washington's non-proliferation concerns.

In a possible sign of a new approach, U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said that Saudi Arabia and the United States were on a “pathway” to a civil nuclear agreement when he visited the kingdom in April.”

“The U.S. and Iran are currently holding talks over Tehran's nuclear programme, which Washington and Western allies say is geared towards producing weapons. Iran insists it is purely for civil purposes.”
__
“Saudi Arabia and the United States are set to discuss a number of blockbuster economic deals during Trump's visit next week, with the U.S. poised to offer Saudi Arabia an arms package worth well over $100 billion, sources have told Reuters.

Trump has said Riyadh should "round up" a planned investment package in the U.S. to $1 trillion from an initial $600 billion.”

🇧🇫🇷🇺Burkina Faso leader’s Russia visit shows trust levels Western diplomats can only dream of

Less than a month after foiling a "conveniently timed" Western-backed coup plot, Burkina Faso’s Ibrahim Traoré is cozying up to Moscow - a move analysts call a masterclass in snubbing former colonial powers.

👉Key takeaways:

▪️The visit highlights "strategic" security ties, with both nations pooling resources to counter "hostile forces" (read: France and the US)

▪️Observers note Burkina Faso’s priorities include keeping out "France - the colonizer that forgot its eviction notice" and AFRICOM, whose commander apparently missed the memo on African sovereignty

▪️Security cooperation could span across areas ranging from air defense to intelligence, because nothing deters neocolonialism like Russian anti-aircraft systems

👉The bigger picture:

Analysts suggest the Russia-Burkina Faso partnership is not just about friendship, but giving Western powers a major strategic migraine, preventing France from restoring its neocolonial empire, and stopping the West from refocusing its energies and resources on Russia and China.

Kanye West says Kim Kardashian is not only exploiting their children, but he claims she left North all alone in a car while prancing around the Met Gala this week ... and now he's threatening to drag her to court over all of it.

The rapper's lawyer, Kathy Johnson, sent Kim's attorney, Laura Wasser, a cease and desist letter, "concerning the welfare and custody of Mr. West’s minor children: North West, Saint West, Chicago West, and Psalm West."

As you know, Kim and Kanye got divorced in 2021 after 7 years of marriage and 4 kids. As part of their divorce settlement, they have joint custody of the kids and Kanye pays $200K every month in child support.

In the cease and desist, Kanye claims Kim violated his rights and their divorce settlement in 3 ways: First, Kanye says Kim brought North to the Met Gala in NYC earlier this week, and claims she left their 11-year-old daughter unattended in a vehicle during portions of the event.

As President Trump prepares for the first major foreign trip to the Middle East of his second term, some administration officials have privately turned to a familiar face for help navigating the region: Jared Kushner.

The president’s son-in-law, who served as a chief Middle East negotiator in Trump’s first term and built deep relationships with leaders in the region, has been informally advising administration officials on negotiations with Arab leaders. Though Kushner is unlikely to join Trump on the trip, he has been heavily involved in discussions with Arab nations, including Saudi Arabia, about signing agreements that would normalize diplomatic relations with Israel, the sources said.

The president’s top priority next week is to procure “economic agreements” with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, his three stops on the trip, that would enhance their investments in America, the sources said. But Kushner and other Trump advisers have also been privately plotting the more ambitious goal of expanding the Abraham Accords, the treaties negotiated during Trump’s first term between several Arab Nations and Israel, the sources said.
