An official from the UN says that the global financial system is outdated and unjust.
The head of the UN’s Economic Commission for Africa, Claver Gatete, has described the current global financial infrastructure as outdated and unjust and called for reforms to address the economic disparities affecting Africa.
Gatete, who hails from Rwanda, made the remarks during the 46th Ordinary Session of the African Union’s Executive Council in Addis Ababa on Wednesday.
“The current global financial architecture is outdated, inequitable and unjust and must be reformed to be fit for purpose. We must advocate for debt restructuring that allows African nations to invest in their people and development instead of paying exorbitant interest rates,” the executive secretary noted.
Gatete pointed out that despite Africa possessing 30% of the world’s mineral reserves, including 40% of its gold and up to 90% of its chromium and platinum, the continent accounts for less than 3% of global trade and only 1% of global manufacturing output.

During yesterday's White House Press Briefing, Karoline Leavitt spoke on behalf of President Trump, clarifying that he has asked King Abdullah of Jordan to get with his Arab partners in the region and provide a proposal for how they would like the Gaza situation to be addressed.
President Trump then put out this video, directly addressing the people of Jordan.
It seems clear that the "takeover Gaza" narrative was a ploy to catalyze the conversation, and put the ball in the Arabs' court to take initiative. This is Trump providing an opportunity to the Arabs to flex their sovereignty, and show the world that they are capable of managing their own affairs.

The Saudis have long been known for their laconic and private nature. When they do make public statements, it is measured and brief.
They have also been the lifeline for Israel over the past 15 months, organizing land convoys to transport goods from the UAE across the Arabian desert, when Israel ships couldn’t traverse the Red Sea to dock at Haifa, due to threats from the Houthis.
They have done all of this while being mocked by many across the Muslim world, who have slandered them as cowards and traitors, for choosing peace over war with Israel.
That’s what makes this media blitz against Netanyahu so shocking for many. The Saudis are not known for airing out their grievances in public, and they have remained loyal to the mission to establish peace in the Middle East. But everybody has their limits, and Netanyahu has demonstrated a hubris that, for many, is beyond insufferable.
I have no doubt that the Saudis are still in Trump’s corner, and even read in on whatever plan the President has hatched, but this one line from the article is a little alarming:
Saudi Arabian foreign minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan last week postponed a scheduled trip to Washington after the US president announced his plan, a person familiar with the matter said.
We have covered Faisal many times in this Brief. He has proven himself a capable and congenial diplomat, who has earned friends for Saudi Arabia around the world. Canceling this meeting with President Trump is a signal to everyone that the Saudis have lost their patience with Tel Aviv.
And they are about to host President Trump and President Putin in a highly anticipated peace summit…

Why are we treating government bureaucrats like rock stars and celebrities? The nonstop groveling is embarrassing. The Founders would be ashamed.

I wasn’t aware there was a “Weimar+” alliance.

If a person's first reaction to a massive wooden horse outside the city gates is to inquire about whether or not there are soldiers in the horse, having yourself already let multiple soldier-filled wooden horses inside the city gates to (unfortunately) rape and pillage the city again, burn that person at the stake for threatening the city's unity and causing people to doubt the ordained plan on how to deal with massive wooden horses. - ancient proverb of unknown origin

Saudi Arabia is leading Arab efforts to develop a post-war plan for Gaza as an alternative to President Trump’s vision of a “Middle East Riviera.” Arab states are working to consolidate existing proposals into a plan they hope to present to Trump, possibly…
