💬 "It will be a deal between the two men [President Putin and President Trump]. So, it is realistic. It can be done and by putting pressure mainly on Kiev rather than Moscow," Professor of History and International Relations at the US International University-Africa Macharia Munene told Sputnik Africa, commenting on a report that Trump tasked his special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg with resolving the Ukrainian conflict within 100 days.

According to Munene, Donald Trump is not willing to continue funding the conflict at the same level as the Biden administration.

Russia is more ready to negotiate, while Ukraine, which has been led to believe that it has widespread support and can commit any provocation, is a greater challenge, the speaker emphasized.

💬 "I think the general [Kellogg] will have a very tough time. Not so much convincing the Russians, but the Ukrainians. Because they are the ones who are adamant. […] There'll be a message even to western or other people that there is a limit as to how much you can do to provoke another country and expect that there will be stability or peace. It's a very big lesson," he said.

Trump's motivation for resolving the conflict with 100 includes a desire for a Nobel Peace Prize, emulating Obama, and restoring US credibility and global trust, Munene added.

💬 "I think Trump is sincere in his efforts to cut a deal, because you want to cut a deal so that he can maybe be considered for a Nobel Peace Prize," the expert explained.
