African countries cannot take sovereign decisions on their military cooperation when they still have bases of the former colonial power on their soil, Amzat Boukari-Yabara, a pan-Africanist historian of Beninese origin, told Sputnik Africa.

The departure of the French army is extremely important if African nations want to really assume their sovereignty and redefine their security policy, the expert said.

🗣 "There is a desire on the part of African states to assume, at least visibly, their sovereignty by simply removing any foreign army from their soil," Boukari-Yabara said.

A year ago on Badlands Daily, I warned everybody about the threat Kristi Noem presented to the MAGA movement, after she passed "The God's Chosen People Act," which she claimed was intended to protect the Jewish community. (Apparently Kristi Noem disagrees with Jesus that Christians are God's Chosen People.)

The reality is that South Dakota has the smallest Jewish population of any state in the nation (estimated 300 total) and the law actually amended the state's definition of "antisemitism" to reflect the definition provided by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, which currently says that it includes any criticism of Zionism or the Israeli government.

Perhaps the IRHA will decide tomorrow to expand that definition to include criticism of lobbyists in DC? Or criticism of the government, itself?

Abbas’s Fatah party, which controls the Palestinian Authority based in the occupied West Bank, and the Hamas group, who hold power in Gaza, have for years expressed interest in taking Palestinians back to the polls.

A long-standing rivalry between the two main Palestinian factions was seen as a leading factor in stalling progress toward a new vote.

But Fatah and Hamas have lately been engaged in unity talks, reaching an agreement in principle in September to hold elections in 2021.
