GOP nominee contender Christ Christie claims Donald Trump won’t be able to resist attending the Republican nomination debates because his ego won’t let him stay away, despite the former president suggesting he might not.

“He’s on Truth Social going bonkers, and no one’s paying attention? He won’t deal well with that,” the fellow Republican candidate claimed, adding that he would beat Trump in a debate due to having helped his rival prep in 2016 and 2020.

“I probably am here because of debates. I don’t mind it at all,” Trump told Fox News’s Bret Baier recently. “But when you’re 40 points up… Why would I let these people take shots at me?”

Finland’s First Conscription Wave Under NATO Influenced By Ukraine Conflict — Report

Finland has undertaken its first military conscription wave since becoming a member of NATO, with around twelve thousand men entering service.

According to local broadcaster Yle, the recruits’ training will be influenced by “lessons learned” during the Russia/Ukraine conflict.

French mayors have called for a civic mobilization to uphold the rule of law following six nights of turmoil over the police killing of a 17-year-old French-Algerian. At the same time, a poll shows strong public opposition to the rioters.

The national association of mayors urged citizens to gather at their local town halls on Monday at noon to show support for “a return to order in the republic.” Government buildings have been targeted “with extreme violence” over the week, it said in a statement on Sunday.

Suspected Measles Outbreak In Sudanese Refugee Camp Kills 13+

Doctors Without Borders have declared the situation "critical" at Sudan's displacement camps after 13 children died from a suspected measles outbreak over the last few weeks. 

From June 6 to 27, the NGO treated 223 children with the suspected disease in White Nile camps, with 72 – including the 13 who died – admitted to two clinics it supports.

Israel Conducts Missile Raids On Syria

The Syrian military said that Israel launched airstrikes near the central Syrian city of Homs on Sunday, causing material damage but no casualties.

According to Israel, a Syrian anti-aircraft missile exploded over Israeli territory, which prompted another round of strikes.

Syria’s government media said that some of the country’s air defenses have also shot down Israeli missiles over neighboring Lebanon.

2 Dead, 28 Injured In Baltimore Mass Shooting 

Multiple gunmen opened fire at a mass event in Baltimore Sunday, killing two and leaving 28 injured and three in critical condition, police have said. 

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott slammed the "reckless, cowardly act" that targeted more than a dozen victims under 18, with the youngest reportedly only 13.

There have been no details on the suspects or their motives. 
Residential Building Explodes In Central Tokyo

Japanese media reported that a powerful explosion rocked a building in downtown Tokyo on Monday, causing debris to scatter across a bustling intersection and filling the air with smoke. The fire was swiftly brought under control.

The incident resulted in four people sustaining injuries, with three of them being described as seriously injured in local media reports. While the exact cause of the blast remains unknown, witnesses recalled detecting a solid gas odor before the explosion.
Modern Iranian craftsmen recreated Nicholas II’s carpet

Nicholas II spent most of the time with his family at the Alexander Palace of Tsarskoye Selo in the St. Petersburg suburbs. During World War II, the palace was severely damaged by the Nazis and most of the historic interiors were lost.

Today, there is an active restoration of the palace’s exterior and interior, with attention to the tiniest detail. For example, in the cabinet of Nicholas II, a unique piece of furniture is being reconstructed, called ‘ottoman’ (mini sofa or pouf/leg rest with no back support).

The inventory books preserved a detailed description of the sofa. In particular, it says that it was covered with “a Persian velvet carpet (faragan), with a mottled pattern of stylized plants on a dark blue background in the middle and a border around the edge, with mottled figured medallions and stylized flowers on a light green background”

The rug was lost, but, today, Iranian craftsmen have made a new one using ancient Persian technology
