Biden Rejects SCOTUS Expansion Despite Controversial Ruling

President Joe Biden criticized the idea of expanding the membership of the US Supreme Court following its decision to strike down race-conscious admission considerations on Thursday, but said he believes the institution is disconnected from fundamental American values.

Biden told MSNBC that the court “may do too much harm but I think if we start the process of trying to expand the court, we are going to politicize it maybe forever, in a way that is not healthy.”

Biden's remarks came shortly after the Supreme Court dealt a significant blow to affirmative action policies by invalidating race-conscious student admissions programs at prestigious institutions.
