Some context first: Between 2026–2027, centralized exchanges will begin collecting and reporting user data under the CARF framework: transactions, gains, and tax residency. From 2027–2028, this data will be automatically exchanged between tax authorities. Staying "invisible" while using regulated platforms will effectively become impossible.

Recently, there's been a renewed wave of FUD around the UAE, the EU, and other jurisdictions. This is cyclical and tends to resurface regularly.

To be clear: fully decentralized, non-custodial setups remain outside the reporting perimeter. If you control your private keys, there is no intermediary reporting on your behalf.
