S&P 500 $SPX book depth is still extremely thin compared to July 2025 and 2024. Remember, book depth is the amount of open orders on either side of the current price. Basically if book depth is wide it tends to support the market because moves are absorbed…
S&P 500 book depth is still extremely thin and still getting compressed.

Less outstanding orders on either side of the price = less cushion against violent moves

I can't go back further than 2024 using the official CME data, but I'd argue this is the tightest prolonged book depth contraction in 25 years.

🚨🛢️ 2 MORE TANKERS ATTACKED AT THE CPC TERMINAL

The NISSOS SIFNOS, operated by Chevron-controlled Tengizchevroil, was struck by a drone while loading oil at the CPC Marine Terminal.

A fire broke out near the vessel’s crude-loading manifolds but was extinguished. No casualties or oil spill were reported.

A second tanker, the MARATHI, was also attacked around 6 nautical miles from the terminal while approaching to load crude.

CPC has now suspended oil-loading operations, although the pipeline itself remains operational.

This is not simply another attack on Russian infrastructure.

CPC carries more than 1 million barrels per day, mostly Kazakh oil, and serves Western shareholders and producers including Chevron, ExxonMobil, Eni, TotalEnergies and Shell.

The target is increasingly the entire physical chain: the pipeline, the loading point and now the tankers collecting the barrels.

Even without a major spill or structural failure, repeated attacks can deter vessels from calling at the terminal and disrupt exports through risk alone.

🚨🇮🇷🇴🇲 IRAN CLAIMS IT INTERCEPTED 2 OIL TANKERS NEAR OMANI WATERS

Iran's IRGC says it turned back 2 oil tankers attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz via the southern shipping lane, which runs close to Omani waters.

According to the IRGC, one of the tankers caught fire during the incident, and the vessels were being guided by U.S. aircraft.

If the interception occurred where the southern traffic separation scheme passes through Omani territorial waters, it would represent a significant escalation, potentially involving a violation of Oman's sovereignty.

None of these claims have been independently verified, and Omani authorities have not commented on the incident.

If confirmed, it would suggest Iran is willing to challenge shipping even outside the waters it directly claims, further raising risks for one of the world's most critical oil transit routes.

Last night, the port of Taman, in the Krasnodar region, was also attacked and is on fire.

The port is one of the main logistical hubs in southern Russia.

It is crucial for supplying Russian forces operating in the southern region.

The port is used for transshipping petroleum products and other energy resources. Furthermore, it remains an important export point for Russian fuels, the revenue from which is used to finance Russia's military needs.

JUST IN: The U.S. Senate advanced Lindsey Graham’s Russia sanctions bill by an 86-12 vote. The legislation would impose 100% secondary tariffs on countries that continue buying Russian oil and gas and target Russia’s "shadow fleet". President Zelensky was…
❗️ US authorities are including cryptocurrency in a project of "hellish sanctions" against Russia.

The US Senate is nearing the passage of one of the toughest sanctions packages against Russia – the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026.

The text explicitly outlines sanctions for "deceptive or structured transactions" aimed at circumventing US restrictions, including the use of digital currencies or assets.

This wording potentially allows the US regulator (OFAC) to exert pressure on:

➥ cryptocurrency exchanges and platforms;
➥ over-the-counter (OTC) platforms;
➥ cryptocurrency payment services;
➥ custodial wallets;
➥ intermediaries conducting transactions in BTC and stablecoins,

...if it is determined in the US that they deliberately served Russian state structures, sanctioned banks, the energy sector, or schemes to circumvent restrictions.

Centralized stablecoins like #USDT and #USDC are particularly vulnerable: their issuers and supporting platforms can technically freeze wallet addresses.

As of the morning of July 30th, the "hellish sanctions" project has not yet been passed. On July 28th, the US Senate concluded the debate on moving to consideration with a vote of 86 to 12, and on July 29th, it officially began consideration of the document with a vote of 84 to 12. Now, discussions on amendments will take place, followed by another procedural step and then a final vote; a specific date has not yet been set. If the package is approved by the Senate, it will be sent to the House of Representatives, and then to the President of the United States.

🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 LARGE US STRIKE REPORTED IN AHWAZ

Footage from Ahwaz in Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province shows a large plume of black smoke rising over the city after an apparent strike on an IRGC military site.

Local reports describe the target as an IRGC air-defence base, although the precise facility and full extent of the damage have not yet been independently verified.

The attack comes as US Central Command confirms a new 2 hour operation against dozens of IRGC targets, including command centres, drone infrastructure and air defence sites across Iran.

Explosions were also reported around Ahwaz during the operation.

‼️Khuzestan is strategically important because it hosts a large share of Iran’s oil production and energy infrastructure.

Any sustained campaign against military sites in this province brings the conflict dangerously close to the heart of Iran’s energy system.
