TRUMP JUST IMPOSED NEW TARIFFS ON 60 COUNTRIES STARTING TODAY.
The Supreme Court struck down Trump's original "Liberation Day" tariffs in February. In response, Trump imposed temporary 10% global tariffs as a placeholder.
Those tariffs were set to expire today, and today's new tariffs take their place.
Back in March, the US launched a Section 301 investigation into 60 countries, checking whether each one properly bans imports made with forced labor. In June, the US found all 60 failed that test. Today's tariffs are the direct result of that investigation.
HERE ARE KEY DETAILS:
1. Tariffs took effect at 12:01 a.m. today, covering 99.4% of all US imports.
2. Countries get either 10% or 12.5%, depending on whether they've already banned goods made with forced labor.
3. Argentina, Bangladesh, Canada, India, Mexico, Pakistan, and the UK get the lower 10% rate.
4. China, Brazil, Russia, and Saudi Arabia get the higher 12.5% rate.
5. Japan, Korea, and Switzerland get a special cap, their old tariff plus this new one adds up to exactly 12.5% total, not stacked.
6. These don't stack with existing tariffs either. Steel and aluminum stay at 50%, not 60%+.

❗️Axios: The US Senate may vote as early as next week on an updated package of sanctions against Russia, which is supported by more than 60 senators. After the death of Lindsey Graham, the document was revised twice: the maximum size of secondary tariffs was reduced from 500% to 100%, and at Trump’s request, sanctions against Iran were added. Party leaders are still coordinating the procedure, but a vote is expected in the coming days.

Russia claims it shot down 571 Ukrainian drones overnight. There is no independent confirmation, and the number is almost certainly propaganda.
Fires in Russia often come from: • drone debris, • failed Russian air‑defense missiles, • or actual Ukrainian strikes that Russia tries to mask.
So yes — debris can cause fires. But no — the 571 figure is not credible.
