โ—๏ธโ€œAnother 32 Russian banks, as well as cryptocurrency companies and oil trading platforms, are being added to the new sanctions package against Russia,โ€ โ€” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ The European Union has approved a new round of sanctions against Russian banks, crypto platforms, and oil companies over the war in Ukraine.

The EU's 21st sanctions package targets 94 Russian financial institutions, including the Moscow Exchange, while also banning transactions with additional crypto platforms and oil traders.

The bloc has also maintained the price cap on Russian oil at $44.10 per barrel.

Meanwhile, Russia's oil and gas revenues continue to grow, rising more than 32% year-over-year, highlighting the ongoing gap between sanctions pressure and energy income.

This is the most underrated Hermes use case that 99% of people haven't set up yet.

In just 3 minutes, you can set up Hermes to run as your personal assistant.

This setup genuinely feels like having a real employee who never sleeps and remembers everything.

Here's the full playbook:

Step 1. Install Hermes

Two options, both under a minute:

โ†’ Desktop app: no terminal needed, just download and open at hermes-agent.nousresearch.com
โ†’ Terminal: curl -fsSL hermes-agent.nousresearch.com/install.sh | bash

Step 2. Connect Composio

This is the step most people skip, and it's what actually transforms Hermes from a chatbot into an assistant.

On its own, Hermes can't touch your calendar or inbox. Composio bridges that gap and plugs 1,000+ apps directly into Hermes.

Paste this into your Hermes chat: composio.dev/hermes

Then connect: Google Calendar, Gmail or Outlook, Google Tasks, Slack, GitHub, or whatever tools you'd hand a real assistant.

While you're in there, turn on persistent memory and skill generation. Memory means it recalls context across sessions instead of starting from zero. Skills mean every task it completes gets saved as a reusable SOP for next time.

Step 3. Connect a messaging gateway

Right now Hermes only talks to you through the desktop app. The real unlock is reaching it from your phone.

Connect Discord, Telegram, Slack, WhatsApp, or Signal, whichever you already live in.

Prompt: "Set up my messaging gateway. I want to connect [platform] so I can reach you from my phone. Walk me through authorizing it."

Or via terminal: hermes gateway setup

It locks down to an allowlist by default, so random people can't message your bot.

Step 4. Start prompting it like a real assistant

Some of my favorite actual prompts:

โ†’ "What's on my calendar today? Flag any conflicts and let me know if I'm double booked."
โ†’ "Pull my task database and tell me what's overdue or due in the next 3 days."
โ†’ "Check my Slack DMs and unread channels. Summarize anything that actually needs a response from me."

The real unlock: scheduling recurring tasks with the built-in cron scheduler.

"Every day at 9am, scan my Slack and ping me with a summarized report."
"Before I go to bed, send me a quick update on my to-do list so I can set priorities for tomorrow."

Mid-task, just message "/stop" to redirect it instead of waiting for it to finish.

Step 5. Make it yours

โ†’ Personality: switch tones with /personality direct for work, more relaxed for personal stuff
โ†’ Model: Claude models feel warmer and more human. GPT models feel more robotic. Swap anytime.
โ†’ /sethome sets your main channel
โ†’ /pet gives your agent an animated avatar that reacts to what it's doing (nearly 3,000 to choose from)

One more tip: Discord works best if you want a proper "hub." WhatsApp and Telegram are great for quick messaging, but Discord lets you build dedicated channels for different subagents and monitor everything in one place.

I've been running this for a few weeks now - save this so you don't lose it.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท The Sky Is Filling With U.S. Military Aircraft.

An unusually high volume of U.S. Air Force aircraft has reportedly been moving from the American mainland toward Europe and onward to the Middle East overnight.

While the Pentagon has not announced a major operation, the scale of the reported air activity is fueling growing speculation that Washington could be positioning forces ahead of a significant escalation.

The next 24โ€“48 hours could prove critical.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Major Blow for Putin.

Russia's flagship Su-57 fifth generation stealth fighter has crashed near Moscow.

Moscow has used the Su-57 sparingly during the war in Ukraine, with analysts suggesting Russia has been cautious about exposing its premier fighter to the risk of combat losses.

Now, the aircraft has crashed outside of combat, an incident that could further dent confidence in the Su-57 and complicate its future export prospects if concerns over reliability grow.

More details are expected as investigators determine the cause.

โš ๏ธ"CASH ON THE SIDELINES" is at historically low levels:

US aggregate investable funds, including money market funds, time and savings deposits, and checkable deposits, as a % of the Wilshire 5000 market cap, are down to ~23%, a record low.

This is even below ~35% recorded before the 2000 Dot-Com Bubble burst.

By comparison, during the Great Financial Crisis, this metric spiked to ~130%.

There is a tendency to view large cash and deposit balances as dry powder waiting to be deployed into equities, but that argument becomes weaker as this ratio falls.

Investors are no longer sitting on cash, they are already almost fully invested.

"Major military punishment will be inflicted upon Iran."

President Trump, on last night's Houthi attack on two Saudi ships.

That single distinction turns a Yemen based blockade into a direct escalation risk with Iran.
China has developed a method where every sector it enters becomes completely its own within a few years.

The first lithium battery was produced by Sony in Japan in 1991. For years, Japan was the leader in this field.

Today, approximately 70% of the world's batteries are produced in China.

Moreover, it's not just batteries. Japan and Germany were once leaders in solar panels. Europe led in steel, and the US in rare earth elements.

Today, all of them are in China.

None of these were lost through war. The weapon that took them all is the same:

Cheapness.

So how does cheapness kill an entire industry?

China has a four-step method for this.

Step 1:

The state strategically selects a sector. Then, support flows in: cheap credit, cheap electricity, cheap land, tax exemptions.

Step 2:

With this support, Chinese companies produce goods cheaper than anyone else. They sell them with very little profit, or even without any profit. The goal isn't to make a profit, but to set a price that competitors can't match. Because the state is behind them, they can maintain this price for years.

Third step.

The rest of the world cannot compete at this price. Western producers will first incur losses, then close down one by one.

Fourth step.

Once the field is clear, China will become a monopoly in that area. It will then set the price and the rules.

The clearest evidence of this is again solar panels.

The striking thing is this: Chinese solar companies are still selling at a loss today.

Their production capacity is twice the world demand. Even a loss is an investment, because ultimately, China is the one that survives.

But China's real expertise lies deeper.

Most of the time, it controls the processing, not the ore itself.

It extracts only 8% of the world's copper but produces 47% of the world's refined copper.

It possesses less than 7% of the world's lithium reserves but processes 80% of it.

It has 77% of the world's cobalt refining and 90% of its rare earth processing.

So the raw material could be in your own land.

The factory that makes it usable is in China. Owning the mine isn't enough; the one who processes it is the one who profits.

Once a monopoly is established, the second move begins.

The cheap seller now holds the door.

China has tried this step by step over the last year.

It introduced a rule for rare earth materials.

If a product contains even one-thousandth of a Chinese-sourced material, selling it is subject to China's permission.

Antimony is the most concrete example of this.

The US is completely dependent on imports for this metal, used in ammunition. When China cut off exports, shipments dropped by 97%, and the price tripled.

In gallium and germanium, two critical materials for chips, China completely halted shipments to the US.

Then, it temporarily suspended them all in a trade agreement.

So it showed that it could shut them off, and also turn them back on whenever it wanted.

That's the real power. The tap is now in its hands.

One figure summarizes the whole picture.

China is the world leader in refining 19 out of 20 critical minerals.

So this isn't just a sector issue.

Almost all raw materials for modern production pass through Chinese factories.

There's also an aspect that's often overlooked.

China started with something seemingly insignificant: cheap steel.

Then, with each step, it moved into a more critical sector. Now it's reaching the foundation upon which everything rests.

The latest scene is artificial intelligence.

The same game is being played there too.

Distributing the model for free and openly to everyone, thereby harming competitors.

But artificial intelligence is not just one sector; it's the foundation for all future sectors. This time, it's not just one industry that's lost, but the entire future.

So what is the US doing? This is the most striking part.

For years, the US advocated for a free market, saying the state shouldn't interfere in the economy.

But when it couldn't compete with China, it started using the very method it criticized.

The state is now directly becoming a partner in companies.

It acquired approximately 10% of the chip giant Intel. It entered the rare earth materials company MP Materials and became its largest shareholder.

In 2025 alone, it acquired shares in seven companies in this way.

So the game is turning around.

What China did through state intervention, the US is now doing through state intervention.

But there's a problem. China started this game decades ago. The US is only just waking up.

That's the whole game. It enters with cheapness, establishes itself with a monopoly, turns it into a weapon, and finishes it off.

You think you're getting it cheaply. But one day, China will decide whether or not to give you that product.

Deng Xiaoping has a famous saying:

"Don't show your power, wait for your time."

China has done exactly that for decades.
