$IRUS We need to briefly explain the terms "ongoing" and "collapse" in the context of Russia.
"Ongoing" β because the catastrophic situation has already lasted five months, with no prospect of improvement.
"Collapse" β because the total value of Russian companies has fallen by more than 30% during this period.
Tomorrow, we will explain "total chaos" and "civil war." πππ

Reuters reports that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov insists Russia's economic difficulties are "not critical." That may be one of the clearest indicators yet that they are. Russia rarely feels the need to reassure people when everything is going well.
This is the same Kremlin spokesman who recently claimed Ukraine had been "demilitarised", despite Moscow now being struck with increasing frequency by Ukrainian-designed and Ukrainian-produced drones and ballistic missiles with the gap between official rhetoric and reality appearing to be widening further than ever.
We've seen this pattern before, it wasn't until Crimea declared a state of emergency over fuel shortages that Putin was forced to publicly acknowledge the issue, after months of Ukrainian strikes targeting Russia's fuel infrastructure and logistics in and around Crimea.
The Kremlin's instinct is often to deny problems until events make them impossible to ignore.

π¨ Major sign of Russia's dire economic state: government debt auctions have been CANCELLED π¨
As revenue collapses and inflation spikes, nobody wants to buy Russian debt because they think they'll lose money on it.
This will mean even deeper budget cuts to fund Putin's war.π₯

πͺπΊπ·πΊ6 EU countries are now seeking exceptions to the new Russia sanctions package, or blocking it outright, per the FT.
πΈGermany and Portugal want to protect domestic seafood industries from a Russian import ban.
πΈFrance and Italy want eased visa rules to protect high end tourism.
πΈAustria wants frozen assets released to rescue a domestic bank.
πΈGreece wants shadow fleet restrictions diluted to protect its own shipping industry.
That last 1 matters most.
Ukraine has hit over 170 shadow fleet vessels this month.
Greece is now lobbying to weaken the legal framework around the exact fleet getting targeted.

πΊπΈRubio is already there.
Iran and Ukraine are expected to top the agenda.
Diplomatic contact is not resolution.
The market already made that mistake once this year, reading June's Hormuz reopening as the end of the war premium, only to watch it round trip back to 90 dollars in under a month.
Watch what comes out of the room, not the fact that the room exists.

πΊπΈTrump just put a number on his own Hormuz toll plan. 2 billion dollars a day to reopen the strait.
π¨π³China's Foreign Ministry pushed back immediately: "The Strait was open before the war. The root of the problem lies in your illegal actions against Iran. You have created a global crisis out of nothing."
This is the 2 biggest economies on earth publicly disputing who owns the blame, and the bill, for the chokepoint carrying 30% of the world's seaborne crude.

π¨ JAPAN HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM
USD/JPY is back at 162.7, a very dangerous level.
On June 16, the BOJ raised rates to 1%, the highest since 1995. Normally that strengthens a currency but the yen barely moved.
Before that, in April and May, Japan spent a record Β₯11.73 trillion ($73.5 billion) buying yen directly. It strengthened for a few days, then the entire move reversed.
In early July, Japan tried something else. Reports said the government wants to push its giant pension fund, GPIF, into buying more domestic assets instead of foreign ones. The yen strengthened on that news too.
Again, none of it held. Today USD/JPY sits at the same level it hit before any of this happened.
A weak yen isn't just a currency problem for Japan.
It raises the cost of every barrel of oil and every unit of food Japan imports, feeding directly into inflation that's already running above the BOJ's target.
It also erodes real wages for ordinary households, even as the stock market and exporters benefit.
Three different tools have now failed to fix it, and Japan is running out of options.

βΌοΈπ·πΊπΊπ¦ BIG | The high-stakes race for orbital dominance has entered a critical new phase as the Kremlin scrambles to break Western space superiority and build its own war-time satellite network.
Russia has deployed its second batch of Rassvet (Π Π°ΡΡΠ²Π΅Ρ) satellites into low Earth orbit, taking concrete steps to develop a sovereign tactical space constellation. According to Ukrainian intelligence assessments highlighted by defense advisor Serhiy "Flash," up to 40 of these low-orbit units are now hovering in space, laying the groundwork for a dedicated military network. While Moscow remains light-years behind SpaceX's gargantuan 15,000-satellite Starlink fleet or Amazon Kuiper's expanding orbital grid, the Kremlinβs goal is unmistakable: establishing independent satellite communications, real-time drone targeting, and un-hackable battlefield command loops for the Russian armed forces.
This orbital expansion reveals a dangerous long-term evolution in modern warfare doctrine. Although Russia's current space asset count is a fraction of what is needed for full orbital coverage, ignoring this initial deployment would be a fatal mistake. By establishing an independent military constellation, Moscow is explicitly working to neutralize Western space-denial strategies and eliminate its reliance on third-party comms. If allowed to scale into hundreds of operational units, this Russian Starlink equivalent will dramatically boost the Kremlinβs deep-strike precision, electronic warfare resilience, and frontline drone coordination across the Ukrainian warzone.
