"The Bank can freeze your money"

Crypto Holders with $50 in their bank account.
How do we actually improve peopleโ€™s perception of AI and post-labor economics?

Because right now, a lot of people hear โ€œAI futureโ€ and instantly think unemployment, surveillance, corporate control, and dystopia.

Maybe the problem isnโ€™t the technology.

Maybe itโ€™s that nobody has painted a believable future where normal people actually win.
US inflation just came in at 3-year high, and the Fed has almost no room left to cut rates.

The PCE Price Index, the Fed's main inflation gauge, rose 4.1% year over year in May, up from 3.8% the month before.

That's the wrong direction, and still more than double the Fed's 2% target.

At the same time, the economy is not slowing down.

Q1 GDP grew 2.1%, well above the 1.6% forecast.

The labor market backs this up. Initial jobless claims came in at 215,000, better than the 225,000 expected, meaning companies are still not cutting workers in large numbers.

Consumers are spending too.

Personal spending rose 0.7% in May, above the 0.6% forecast. Core durable goods orders, which strip out volatile transport numbers, rose 1.3%.

There is one weak spot.

Headline durable goods orders fell 4.5% in May, a sharp reversal from an 8.5% gain the month before. Since the core number stayed positive, this looks more like a one month swing than a trend.

Put it together and you get strong growth, strong spending, a tight job market, and inflation still rising.

That combination gives the Fed almost no justification to cut rates anytime soon.

This data lands right as Kevin Warsh, the new Fed Chair, has already signaled he is open to more rate hikes instead of cuts.

Numbers like these only strengthen that case heading into the next FOMC meeting.

๐Ÿ›ข๏ธ Hormuz traffic just DOUBLED in a single day.

The chokepoint the world feared would close is roaring back to life.

Kpler data shows confirmed crossings jumped 105% day-on-day to 70 vessels on June 24.

That's 43 sailing west-to-east and 27 east-to-west, one of the highest totals since the conflict began.

It follows a US-Iran agreement that ended over 100 days of effective blockade.

Traffic is climbing fast, up from recent lows of just 25 to 37 daily crossings.
๐Ÿ›ข๏ธ Over 20% of Russia's refining capacity is OFFLINE. 55 of its 83 regions are now rationing fuel.

This is the worst energy crunch Russia has faced since the war began.

Ukrainian drone strikes have knocked out more than a fifth of Russia's total refining capacity.

At least 17 regions have imposed mandatory limits on gasoline and diesel sales.

In total, 55 of 83 federal regions report shortages or restrictions as of June 24.

The strikes hit hard at the core.

8 of Russia's 10 biggest refineries have been targeted since March.

Moscow's largest supplier, the Kapotnya refinery, was hit twice and stays offline until at least end-2026.

Crimea has gone further, halting gasoline sales entirely after weeks of strikes on supply routes.

The IEA called it "unprecedented in the history of the Russia-Ukraine conflict."

Here's the twist for the oil market.
Wrecked refineries can't process crude.

So those barrels get exported raw instead, flowing to buyers like India at a discount.

Less Russian fuel at home means more Russian crude on the global market.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ US just named its real red line with Iran...

It's the Strait of Hormuz.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio says he wants a final Iran deal that guarantees freedom of navigation through Hormuz.

He said it on the final leg of a Gulf tour aimed at reassuring regional allies.

This is the tell on what Washington actually cares about.

Keep the oil moving.

The deal isn't only about Iran's program, it's about the waterway.

For the market, that's a stabilizing signal.

The US is anchoring any agreement to an open Hormuz.

Open passage written into a deal means the closure threat fades from a recurring risk to a settled term.

If navigation becomes the sticking point, the whole deal stalls on it.

๐ŸšจMASSIVE: The world's biggest miner just tried to merge with a trading giant and failed.

Now it's partnering with one of the biggest names in oil instead.

Bloomberg reports Rio Tinto is in early talks with Vitol over a freight and logistics joint venture.

๐ŸŽฏThe goal: cut Rio's shipping costs and sharpen how it manages freight risk.

One area under discussion is Vitol providing risk management tools, including freight derivatives trading.

Notably, the venture would not involve Vitol marketing Rio's iron ore or copper.

This is about logistics, not selling the metal.

The context makes it bigger than it looks.

In February, Rio walked away from a $200 B+ merger with Glencore.

That deal would have turned Rio into a trading house.

It collapsed over value terms.

So this is Plan B.
Bolt a world-class trading brain onto Rio's flows, without becoming Glencore.

Vitol moves massive volumes of oil, gas, and coal, with elite freight and derivatives know-how.

(The caveat: it's early-stage and unconfirmed. Both companies declined to comment, and no deal is signed.)
