Toyota just unveiled CUE7, the latest version of its AI-powered basketball robot.
This new system combines computer vision, reinforcement learning, and model predictive control to detect the hoop, estimate distance, and execute highly precise shots.
With its weight reduced from 120 kg to 74 kg and a new inverted two-wheel design, CUE7 improves both mobility and accuracy.
Beyond basketball, it serves as a testbed for embodied AI.

US oil prices crash to $83/barrel as Iran officially reopens the Strait of Hormuz for the remainder of the ceasefire.
The US is considering a "$20 billion cash-for-uranium deal" with Iran as part of a new "3 page peace plan," per Axios.
Details include:
1. The US and Iran are negotiating over a 3-page plan to end the war
2. One element under discussion is that the US would release $20 billion in frozen Iranian funds in return for Iran giving up its stockpile of enriched uranium
3. Some of Iran's highly enriched uranium would be shipped to a third country and some would be down-blended in Iran under international monitoring
4. Iran would be allowed to have nuclear research reactors for the production of medical isotopes, but would pledge that all of its nuclear facilities would be above ground
A second round of US-Iran talks is expected in Pakistan on Sunday.
Details include:

JPMorgan says the Crypto Market Structure Bill is close to completion.
Contentious issues have been narrowed down from over a dozen to just 2-3. Stablecoin regulation is now reportedly in a good place.
The bill must clear the Senate Banking Committee by mid May to get a floor vote before Memorial Day. Senator Moreno has warned that if it does not reach the Senate floor by May it gets shelved until 2027.
JPMorgan says if passed it will reshape market structure, promote tokenization, and bring in institutional capital that has been sitting on the sidelines waiting for regulatory clarity.
