The US government just announced a deal that reshapes who controls America’s energy future.

$TSLA Tesla and LG Energy Solution signed a $4.3 billion agreement to build a battery factory in Lansing, Michigan.

This isn’t a car battery or a phone battery but the fuel for the American power grid itself.

The batteries built in Michigan will feed directly into Tesla’s Megapack 3, the most powerful grid scale storage unit ever built by the company.

One single Megapack 3 holds 5 megawatt hours of usable energy.

The previous version held 3.9 and that’s a massive leap in a single generation.

And now Tesla has taken four of those units, bolted them together with a transformer and switchgear, and called it the Megablock.

The Megablock delivers 20 megawatt hours of power enough to run 400,000 homes and Tesla says it can install 1 gigawatt hour worth in just 20 business days.

Tesla is building a 1 million square foot factory near Houston specifically to produce these systems at scale, targeting 50 gigawatt-hours of annual output when fully ramped.

The Houston factory broke ground in November 2025 and deliveries start in the second half of 2026.

The Michigan battery plant opens in 2027.
