National Guard is being mobilized in 19 states as part of the crackdown on immigration and crime.

Up to 1,700 National Guard members are expected to be mobilized in the coming weeks across 19 states to support the Department of Homeland Security in President Trump's nationwide crackdown on illegal immigration and crime, Pentagon officials confirmed to FOX News.

Documents obtained by FOX News reveal that deployments are planned in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming – with a duration from August to mid-November. Texas is expected to have the largest National Guard presence.

The mobilized National Guard soldiers will, according to a U.S. Department of Defense official, serve as support for a comprehensive federal interagency initiative while also providing a visible deterrent force. The soldiers assisting ICE will perform case management, transportation, logistical support, and administrative tasks related to processing illegal migrants in facilities. "Entry and exit processing may include collecting personal data, taking fingerprints, DNA samples, and photographing individuals in ICE custody," the official said.

President Trump has hinted in recent days that his administration intends to expand the measures from Washington D.C. to other states. On Thursday, he said before a group of federal officials and National Guardsmen at a police center in Washington D.C.: "We will provide security and then move on to other places."

On Friday, Trump said in the Oval Office: "I think Chicago will be our next target. And then we will help New York," Trump said.

A U.S. Department of Defense official told FOX: "We will not speculate on further operations but can tell you that the department is a planning organization and continues to work and plan with other partner agencies to protect federal assets and personnel."

Under the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, the use of the military to enforce civilian laws is restricted – however, the National Guard is being mobilized under the authority of Title 32 Section 502F, to which the Posse Comitatus Act does not apply. At the request of DHS, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth approved hundreds of additional forces in July to support DHS-ICE agencies and changed existing authorizations from Title 10 to Title 32.

"The big question is how long we stay. Because if we stay, we want to make sure it doesn't happen again. So we have to take care of these criminals and get rid of them," Trump said to reporters in the Oval Office on Friday. "We are not playing games. We will provide security and then move on to other places," Trump said this week before a group of National Guardsmen and federal police officers at a patrol center in DC.
