What to expect at the ICJ hearing on Israel’s occupation of Palestine today
The ICJ will hold its second day of hearings today as part of a week-long process in which representatives from 52 countries will provide oral arguments on the legal consequences of Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza.
In a first-of-its-kind case, it was triggered by a request from the UN General Assembly in December seeking the court’s opinion on the legal consequences of Israel’s occupation of Palestine. It’s the largest number of parties to participate in a single ICJ case since the court was established in 1945.
A Palestinian legal team kickstarted hearings in The Hague on Monday, while Israel has refused to participate in proceedings beyond a written argument. Today, the court will hear oral arguments from the following 11 countries:
South Africa
Algeria
Saudi Arabia
Netherlands
Bangladesh
Belgium
Belize
Bolivia
Brazil
Canada
Chile

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The statement issued by a group of United Nations experts, which documented the blatant human rights violations faced specifically by Palestinian women and girls in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, is further confirmation and evidence of the genocide and ethnic cleansing committed by the occupation, led by war criminal Netanyahu and his Nazi army, against our Palestinian people.
The statement mentions various types and forms of violations faced by Palestinian women at the hands of the occupation army, such as: execution operations, arbitrary arrest, severe beating, deprivation of food and medicine during detention, in addition to threats of rape and insults during interrogation, necessitating the initiation of an international investigation into this rogue entity to hold it and its leaders accountable for their brutal crimes.
We, while appreciating the issuance of this important statement, call for its adoption as an additional document within the case file submitted to the International Court of Justice to consider the genocidal crimes committed by the criminal zionist entity against our Palestinian people.
