The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor warned that Israel is carrying out a comprehensive erasure of Gaza’s historical landmarks and cultural heritage.
The ongoing large-scale military assault on Gaza City, including repeated and systematic bombardment of historic neighborhoods threatens to wipe out what remains of the city’s tangible and intangible heritage.
This destruction, which appears to be part of a declared policy aimed at erasing the city and forcibly displacing its population, constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property.
The situation demands urgent intervention by UNESCO and state parties to halt the destruction, document the damage, ensure restoration, hold perpetrators accountable, and prevent Gaza from being turned into a land without memory or identity.

The IOF dramatically escalated its bombing of Gaza City today.
The attacks were heavily concentrated on the northwestern parts of the city, such as the Al-Karama and Al-Mukhabarat areas, as well as the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, the Al-Shati camp to the west, and the Al-Sabra neighborhood to the south.
This coincided with gunfire from helicopters and drones targeting homes in the Al-Darraj and Sheikh Radwan neighborhoods.
The scene in the city was described as "horrific, like the horrors of the Day of Judgment." Over 62 martyrs ascended today, with 32 of them in Gaza City.

The New York Times reported that former New York governor and current candidate for New York City mayor, Andrew Cuomo, had previously portrayed himself as an "overly aggressive" supporter of Israel, but his stance has begun to shift as his election campaign falters.
The paper quoted Cuomo as saying: "The situation in Gaza has become horrific, and there is no doubt that the people of New York and the nation are witnessing the ongoing massacre. They are deeply disturbed and want it to end, and they believe it has gone on for too long."
Cuomo added: "I have never stood with Netanyahu, nor have I had any political relationship with him."
