To Those Who Still Hold a Trace of Human Conscience in Their Hearts: Gaza is Dying of Hunger

In response to the global mobilization against the policy of starvation and the ongoing genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, the Department of External Relations of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine has sent a message to hundreds of political parties and grassroots movements around the world. The message calls for raising the slogan: “Stop the War of Starvation—Lift the Siege on Gaza” and intensifying street mobilization to urgently deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

The message states:

The forms of human suffering in Gaza are many: from civilians being killed in their homes, shelters, schools, international facilities, and in the streets—even while collecting food aid—to a more harrowing form of death that is now spreading widely throughout the Strip, especially among children: death by starvation.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has documented the martyrdom of 798 people waiting for aid in Gaza in less than a month and a half. The number of children who have died due to malnutrition in Gaza has risen to 85, bringing the total number of deaths from lack of food and medicine to over 660. A report issued by the United Nations and other international bodies warned that the entire Gaza Strip is facing a high risk of famine, given the continued closure of crossings and the extreme scarcity of food.

Remaining silent in the face of what is happening in Gaza is a betrayal of human conscience, a betrayal of ethics, religion, and every value of humanity. At a time when the United Nations works to reduce poverty worldwide, the people of Gaza are fighting for their very survival. Whom do you believe? "Israel's" claims that it is acting in self-defense, or the faces of Gaza’s starving children, women, and sick? The words and promises of American officials to stop the war, or the hundreds of martyrs ascending in the streets and shelters? Do you believe the statements of Western officials condemning the blockade, or the reports from international institutions unanimously describing the Gaza catastrophe as beyond description due to the scale of human suffering?

This war on Gaza is not against Palestinian factions, nor even just against the Palestinian people—it is a war against humanity itself, which cries out in desperation for salvation from the cruelty of "israeli" fascism. It is not a military war, nor armed confrontation—it is a war of revenge, waged by the "israeli" army against civilians in Gaza, as the world watches the tragedy unfold on its screens with no stir of human conscience. Have you not yet heard Gaza’s cry?

The so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” has become a cover for the politicization of relief efforts, imposing an immoral equation: “Food in exchange for death.” This necessitates an immediate halt to all alternative aid mechanisms outside the United Nations umbrella, and the assignment of responsibility for managing and distributing aid in Gaza to UNRWA and other relevant UN agencies.

The Department of External Relations of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine salutes all political, grassroots, legal, and humanitarian organizations for their efforts to stop the genocidal war in Gaza. However, it emphasizes that mere condemnation of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza is no longer enough. Nor is it sufficient to hold the Israeli occupation and the U.S. administration solely responsible for using starvation as a means to lure civilians—including women, children, and the elderly—into exposed areas where they are bombed, in a recurring crime added to the long record of atrocities against our people.

Gaza has today become the embodiment of all human values, and defending it is a defense of the very essence of human conscience.

Therefore, we call on all free people of the world, and on everyone with a conscience, to do everything in their power—on the ground, through words and images, and by all means of expression—to amplify the voice of Gaza’s hungry children to those who still choose to turn a deaf ear. We urge you to adopt non-traditional forms of support for the demand to deliver food to the children, women, and civilians of Gaza. History will not forgive the silence, inaction, or complicity of those who stood by while childhood and humanity were being killed.
