⚡️Muthanna Al-Faris, who spent three years at Meta in various roles, most recently as a Project Manager in the Integrity and Compliance Operations Department, announced his resignation in protest over the company’s complicity in human rights violations and the ongoing genocide carried out by Israel against Palestinians in Gaza.
In a public statement on Facebook, Al-Faris said he had joined Meta to build tools that connect people and empower communities, but soon realized the company was indirectly facilitating abuses against Palestinians.
“When I realized that my work in improving data quality for large language models (AI systems), testing the safety of AI systems, and building automation tools could make me complicit in the bloodshed of my Palestinian brothers and sisters by enabling the development of weapons like those from the “Anduril” partnership and undisclosed connections with the Israeli government, that was the last straw,” he said in the statement.

HEADLINES:
· Gaza TerrorAttacks: At least 15 Palestinians killed in Israeli terror attacks on central and southern Gaza, with children among the dead in az-Zawayda.
· Flotilla Attacked: Spain and Italy to deploy navy vessels after activists report drone attacks on aid flotilla near Greece.
· Eilat Attack: A Houthi drone wounds 22 people in southern Israel, breaching air defenses.
· Mass Displacement: Thousands flee Gaza City overnight as the humanitarian crisis deepens.
Latest from Gaza
Israeli occupation military strikes overnight and this morning have killed at least 15 Palestinians in central and southern Gaza. In one of the deadliest incidents, 11 people from the same family, including several children, were killed when their home was destroyed in the az-Zawayda area. The bodies of the victims have been taken to a nearby hospital.
The ongoing genocide has now killed at least 65,419 people and wounded 167,160 since it began in October 2023, according to Palestinian health officials.
Amid intense fighting, thousands of Palestinians were seen fleeing Gaza City in the early hours, using the coastal al-Rashid Street to move south with whatever transportation they could find.
Aid Flotilla Incident Prompts Naval Deployment
Spain and Italy are deploying navy ships to the Mediterranean after activists in the "Global Sumud Flotilla" reported their vessels were attacked by drones in international waters south of Greece. The flotilla is attempting to break Israel's sea blockade to deliver aid to Gaza.
Organizers described the incident as an "alarmingly dangerous escalation." Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, speaking from the UN General Assembly in New York, stated, “The government of Spain demands that international law be complied with and that the right of its citizens to navigate the Mediterranean under safe conditions be respected.” A Spanish naval vessel is being dispatched to protect the mission.
Houthi Drone Strikes Eilat
In a separate development, a drone launched by Yemen's Houthi rebels wounded 22 people in the southern Israeli city of Eilat. The attack represents a rare breach of Israel's missile defense systems. Houthi group has repeatedly targeted Eilat in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
This bulletin will be updated as more information becomes available.

Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) update, September 25: Greek ships join the fleet of over 50 ships, Italy sends a second naval vessel alongside Spain’s navy escort, and GSF claims credible intelligence of further Israeli attacks
Around 50 ships of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) are currently idling off the coast of Crete after arriving to Greek waters last evening to secure safe passage overnight. The ships have been joined by at least 6 ships from Greece. This comes after the flotilla was attacked at least 12 times across 9 boats late Tuesday with flash bangs and unidentified chemicals, while its radio communications were jammed. The attacks incurred one minor injury and one decommissioned boat. This morning, Italy promised a second naval vessel to escort the flotilla, while Spain promised to deploy one naval vessel.
GSF organizers say that Israel is behind the attack and claim credible intelligence of further Israeli attacks that they plan to share at an emergency press conference at 3PM local time. Israel’s foreign ministry has sent several threats to the flotilla on X, and Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack ostensibly acknowledged that the US had knowledge Israel bombed Tunisia, where two of GSF’s boats had been attacked earlier in its voyage.
The Italian government has not claimed Israel’s involvement in the attacks, but it has pledged two naval vessels to protect Italian nationals from further attacks. Trade union agitation continues across Italy in support of the flotilla. The unions have threatened to shut down businesses and ports if the flotilla is attacked or if its humanitarian mission is blocked. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned the attacks on the flotilla, as she criticized the flotilla saying it was an unnecessary risk for civilians. Meloni offered an “alternative” proposal to have the flotilla’s aid delivered by the Italian government through a Catholic charity approved Israeli channels.
GSF’s steering committee has noted the Italian government’s naval support and has welcomed maritime protection from Italy, Spain, and any government potentially willing to escort the fleet and to ensure safe passage for its humanitarian mission. GSF has rejected the alternative proposals from Italy, and has committed to sailing to Gaza and completing its mission of opening a humanitarian corridor to Gaza, with or without military escorts.
On Thursday morning, GSF released a press statement claiming credible intelligence about an Israeli attack planned for when GSF reaches international waters. “Any attack on or obstruction of the GSF would constitute a grave breach of international law and a defiance of the International Court of Justice’s provisional order requiring Israel to facilitate humanitarian aid to Gaza,” the statement read. GSF will hold an emergency press conference with more details at 3PM local time.
Juan Bordera, an independent member of the Valencian Parliament in Spain and crew member of the ship Sirius-Haifa, told Drop Site that a Spanish member of parliament was contacted through the ministry of foreign affairs saying that Israel would attack the ship if it continued on with its mission. “Despite the threats and pressure, we know that this is a historic opportunity to help the Palestinian people and we are not going to let it pass us by. We are asking for support from civil society and governments to overcome this challenges,” Bordera told Drop Site.
Organizers say that other MPs and participants have been similarly warned from the governments of Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, and Spain. Some participants have considered leaving the mission given the escalating threats, both public ones from the Israeli foreign ministry and through backchannels, organizers say.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued an advisory opinion on July 19, 2024, declaring Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories—including Gaza, West Bank, and East Jerusalem—as unlawful under international law. The ruling stated that Israel must end its occupation "as rapidly as possible," evacuate all settlers, and halt any new settlement activities. The ICJ found that Israel's annexation policies and use of territory resources, particularly water, violate the Hague Convention and breach the Palestinian right to self-determination. It also underscored that the occupation is illegal as it acquired territory by force, which is prohibited. The court called on all states to not recognize Israel's occupation as legal nor assist in maintaining it, and urged international bodies, including the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council, to determine actions to end the occupation [1][2].
Following the ICJ ruling, on September 18, 2024, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution ES-10/24 demanding Israel withdraw completely from the occupied Palestinian territories by September 18, 2025. The resolution also mandated an embargo on arms and trade linked to Israeli settlements in these areas and called for reparations to Palestinians for damages caused by the occupation and apartheid regime. The resolution emphasized ending Israel's apartheid policies, return of seized Palestinian property, and allowing displaced Palestinians to return [1][3].
As of September 18, 2025, the deadline set by the UN, Israel remains obligated under international law to comply with the orders to vacate the Palestinian territories and cease its control over Gaza and adjacent sea areas. The ICJ and ICC rulings collectively mandate Israel must respect Palestinian sovereignty over all occupied lands, including Gaza’s maritime zones, cease blockades, and end any form of forcible displacement or settlement activity. The international community is urged to support enforcement measures and hold Israel accountable for non-compliance, including through sanctions and peacekeeping actions [3][5].
These rulings constitute a historic affirmation by the highest international legal authorities against Israel's occupation policies, affirming Palestinian rights under international law and demanding immediate cessation of occupation and apartheid practices [2][3].
