UN overwhelmingly endorses declaration on two-state solution for Israel, Palestinians
The UN General Assembly was due to vote today on whether to back a resolution calling for a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine.
The resolution received 142 votes in favour and 10 against, while 12 countries abstained.
The UNGA voted to endorse the declaration outlining โtangible, timebound, and irreversible stepsโ towards a two-state solution.
The seven-page declaration is the result of an international conference at the UN in July โ hosted by Saudi Arabia and France โ on the decades-long conflict. The United States and Israel boycotted the event.
