Over 50 ships from at least 44 countries head to Gaza

The Global Sumud Flotilla is on its way to Gaza with over 50 ships carrying activists from 44 countries have departed Barcelona, loaded with food, medicine, and other aid.

Organizers say the mission seeks to break 'Israel’s' blockade, calling it a deliberate policy that deprives more than two million Palestinians of basic necessities.

Israeli regime has intercepted previous flotillas attempting to reach Gaza, including the Handala, stopped in June about 160 nautical miles off the coast.

The 'Israeli' occupation army also confirmed that its navy conducted maritime drills two days before the flotilla’s launch, practicing what it described as β€œa variety of combat scenarios.”

Among the participants is Irish actor Liam Cunningham, known for his role as Ser Davos Seaworth in Game of Thrones. Before setting sail, he drew parallels between his fictional character - who smuggled food to a starving garrison - and his real-life advocacy. β€œI am a human being and I don’t want to see human beings treated the way Palestinians are treated,” he said.

The convoy is carrying essential humanitarian supplies, including medical equipment and baby formula. Activists stressed that the flotilla poses no military threat and is sailing through international waters.
