Ultimately, the bombing was unsuccessful and she was seized by the IOF, becoming the first female political prisoner of the contemporary revolution. Throughout her life and imprisonment, she always ensured that female freedom fighters who came before her were celebrated and remembered, like Ikhlas Ali who was imprisoned for teaching revolutionary songs and Nafyeh Akilah of the Al-Ard group (one of the first Palestinian revolutionary organizations formed post-Nakba).
