Google employees protest companyโ€™s ties with Israeli government

Groups of employees of the tech giant have entered two of the companyโ€™s offices, one in Sunnyvale, California, and one in New York City.

The protesters at the California office say they will not leave until Google pulls out of a $1.2bn contract it shares with Amazon, that would see it provide the Israeli government with cloud services and data centres.
Israel uses AI technology to target individuals while they are at home with their families, based on monitoring their WhatsApp activity. particularly if theyโ€™re in groups with suspected Hamas members or Israelโ€™s opponents, they may be targeted for airstrikes.

A little-discussed detail in the Lavender AI is that Israel is killing people based on being in the same Whatsapp group as a suspected militant. Where are they getting this data? Is WhatsApp sharing it?

Lavender is Israel's system of "pre-crime" - they use AI to guess who to kill in Gaza, and then bomb them when they're at home, along with their entire family. (Obscenely, they call this program "Where's Daddy").

But the part I want to focus on is whether they get this information from Meta. Meta has been promoting WhatsApp as a "private" social network, including "end-to-end" encryption of messages.

Providing this data as input for Lavender undermines their claim that WhatsApp is a private messaging app. It is beyond obscene and makes Meta complicit in Israel's killings of "pre-crime" targets and their families, in violation of International Humanitarian Law and Meta's publicly stated commitment to human rights. No social network should be providing this sort of information about its users to countries engaging in "pre-crime".

It's important to note that already Meta is taking extensive part in the Israeli-led and US-backed genocide, including significant and well-reported suppression of content supporting Palestinian freedom, as well a new anti-"anti-zionist" policy that is used to shut down dissent of Israel's crimes

Why is Meta doing this? Why is Meta so happy to share metadata about group membership with Israel โ€“ a run-around the idea of a "private" social network โ€“ and to be complicit in the genocide?

Mark Zuckerberg, Meta founder and CEO has also been a significant supporter of Israel's propaganda. Zuckerberg gave $125k to Zaka, one of the groups that created and continues to spread much of the original Oct 7 false atrocity propaganda, including the discredited "Oct 7 mass rape" hoax.

Will Meta immediately rescind access to any WhatsApp information from the Israeli government, army, and law enforcement?

How will Meta prevent private information being used by governments to kill WhatsApp users and their families?

Did Meta provide information (including inputs or training data) used by Lavender, Gospel, or Where's Daddy to the Israeli government?

Why has Meta not released their transparency report for the 2nd half of 2023?

Why has Meta not revoked all access to the Israeli government that may put civilians at risk?

Iran CIA MI6

In many accounts the CIA is regarded as the prime mover behind the 1953 coup in Iran, yet Britain was in fact the initial instigator and provided considerable resources to the plot, which UK planners named โ€˜Operation Bootโ€™.

In the early 1950s, the Angloโ€“Iranian Oil Company (AIOC), or BP as it is now known, was run from London and owned jointly by the British government and private citizens. It controlled Iranโ€™s main source of income, oil, and by 1951 had become, according to one British official, โ€œin effect an imperium in imperio an empire within an empire] in Persiaโ€. Iranian nationalists objected to the fact that the AIOCโ€™s revenues from oil were greater than the Iranian governmentโ€™s. Of course, Iran was perfectly capable of running its own oil industry. In March 1951, the Iranian parliament voted to nationalise oil operations, take control of the AIOC, and expropriate its assets.

By November 1952, an MI6โ€“Foreign Office team was jointly proposing with the CIA the overthrow of Iranโ€™s democratic government. British agents in Iran were provided with radio transmitters to maintain contact with MI6, while the head of the MI6 operation, Christopher Woodhouse, put the CIA in touch with other British contacts in the country.

Rioting

In February 1953, rioting broke out in Tehran, and pro-Zahedi supporters attacked Mossadeqโ€™s residence, calling for the prime ministerโ€™s blood. Stephen Dorril notes in his book, MI6: Fifty Years of Special Operations, that this mob had been financed by Ayatollah Kashani and was acting in collaboration with British agents

Black propaganda

All this was intended to frighten Iranians into believing that a victory for Mossadeq would be a victory for communism and would mean an increase in Tudehโ€™s political influence.

A secret US history of the coup plan, drawn up by CIA officer Donald Wilber in 1954, and published by the New York Times in 2000, relates how CIA agents gave serious attention to alarming the religious leaders in Tehran by issuing black propaganda in the name of the Tudeh Party, threatening these leaders with savage punishment if they opposed Mossadeq.

1979 Revolution

Ayatollah Khomeini, the same cleric who was to play a leading role in the 1979 Iranian revolution against the Shah. In 1965, there was another attempted coup and assassination. The Shahโ€™s armed forces killed some 200 people during Tehran riots. The Shah blamed those riots on Khomeini.

When the Shah visited the United States during the 1970s, he encountered large numbers of Iranian students protesting his oppressive regime.  Historian Milani reported that the Shah โ€œwould never again travel to a Western European or American city without the spectre of student demonstrations haunting him.โ€  Meanwhile, the political opposition gathered momentum at home.  โ€œYou canโ€™t keep your throne afloat on a river of blood.โ€

Major demonstrations against the Shah began in October 1977.  They intensified in January 1978 and were followed by strikes that substantially shut down the Iranian economy.  The Shah fled the country in January 1979.  Ayatollah Khomeini, his nemesis since the early 1960s, emerged as the principal leader of the revolution and the theocratic successor regime that appears to be even more oppressive than the Shahโ€™s.  Evidently, the CIA and State Department failed to anticipate this upheaval because they had limited contacts with people in movements opposing the Shah. Americans were stunned when suddenly, as it seemed, their Iranian โ€œfriendโ€ became a bitter enemy.

Death to America

Ayatollah Khameini actions under the brutal US-supported Shah Dictatorship were arrested. In 1971, Ali Khameinei was placed in prisons, He was tortured extensively in prison. He was regularly hit with whips and cables for nearly two years by the Savak, which was fully supported by the CIA, and that's why they chant Death to America. Ayatollah Khomeini took over the country following the 1979 revolution, presiding over an Islamic theocracy until his death a decade later.

Iran Israel

While Iran was ruled by the Pahlavi dynasty for more than a half-century, Iranian-Israeli bilateral relations were far from hostile. Iran was one of the first Muslim countries to recognize the new state of Israel.

Palestine

Palestinians saw that recognition as a tacit international acceptance of what they call the "Nakba," or catastrophe โ€” the forced dispossession and displacement of more than 700,000 Palestinians when Israel was created in 1948. For its part, Israel was quick to establish ties with non-Arab states, including military and security cooperation with Iran.

Revolution

Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution, though, sent relations between the two nations into a tailspin. Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was ousted, and the new supreme leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, pursued a policy of standing up to "arrogant" world powers. During his regime, the United States became known in Iran as the "Great Satan" and Israel as the "Little Satan."

Even so, limited cooperation between Israel and Iran continued into the 1980s. But later, a hostile rivalry emerged as Iran funded the Palestinian resistance movements and other groups in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen. A shadow war between Iran and Israel grew over the years.

Shadow War

A series of sabotage attacks continued into the 2020s, as Israel sought to damage Iranian nuclear facilities.Nuclear scientists were also targeted killed by mossad. America and Israel killing Kasim Sulemani. Israelโ€™s bombing of Iranโ€™s Embassy in Syria's Damascus on April 1st 2024 an act of war against 2 sovereign states, and a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and the Vienna Convention. On April 14, 2024 more than 300 missiles and drones Iran fired at Israel. The Israeli response to Iran with ny drones on 19th April 2024.

Why are Iranian monarchists backing Israel over its Gaza war

As millions of people took to the streets to denounce Israelโ€™s brutal assault on Gaza that has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians, demanding justice and peace, support for Israel emerged from a surprising quarter: Iranian monarchists.

They are supporters of Reza Pahlavi, son of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, Iranโ€™s last shah who was toppled by the Islamic Revolution of 1979. At pro-Israel rallies, they have waved the old Iranian flag and chanted praise of Israel and its leader, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Dubious alliances

Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who ruled until 1979, had a cordial but complex relationship with Israel, trying to balance it with ties to the Arab world. He cooperated with Israel on energy, security, and regional stability, while also at times voicing support for the Palestinian cause and Islamic and non-aligned movements โ€” though he never fully embraced them and was decisively in the US camp in the Cold War.

Son of Iranโ€™s last shah visit to Israel

Accepting an invitation by the most extremist government in the history of Israel, which is the subject of dissatisfaction by most Israelis, is not only nothing to be proud of but a cause for embarrassment.

Iranian diaspora

This includes the varying ethnicities of the Iranian people including the following groups: Persians, Azeris, Kurds, Lors, Baluchs, Arabs, Turkomens, Assyrians, and Armenians.

Israel and the USA funding and supporting the Iranian diaspora to overthrow the Iranian government.

Solidarity

Goal is to overthrow the Iranian government. On the societal level, there are dozens of Iranian and Israeli fraternization examples. Iranian and Israeli filmmakers conduct joint projects while Iranian athletes have repeatedly stood up to the regimeโ€™s ban on competing with their Israeli counterparts, often paying a heavy price.

Iranian-Israelis being prominent figures in the Iranian diaspora, such as Tehran-born singer Rita, who is widely loved for her covers of popular Persian ballads, and Liraz Charhi, known widely for her racy music videos and her star role in the Israeli television series, Tehran (she also happens to be Ritaโ€™s niece).

Five things to know about Isfahan

News of an attack on Iran has brought attention to the central city of Isfahan, which once served as the capital of the Persian Empire during the Safavid dynasty.

In January 2023, a military factory belonging to the Iranian army in Isfahan was also attacked by multiple drones. The province of Isfahan is home to Iranโ€™s main nuclear site, Natanz.

Here are five things to know about Isfahan:

From 1598 to 1736, Isfahan served as the capital during the rule of the Safavid dynasty.

Shah Abbas made it his capital and rebuilt it into one of the largest cities in the world during the 17th century, leading to the coining of the phrase, Isfahan nesf-e-jahan ast (Isfahan is half of the world) to highlight the cityโ€™s importance as a seat of power.

The city has a population of approximately 2.2 million, making it the third-most populous city in Iran, after the modern capital, Tehran, and Mashhad, a religious centre in the country.

Counting the greater Isfahan provinceโ€™s population of four million, it is considered as the second-largest metropolitan area of modern-day Iran.

The UNESCO World Heritage site, Naqsh-e Jahan Square, is located in Isfahan. Constructed between 1598 and 1629, it is considered one of the largest ancient squares in the world. Next to it is the Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest and largest bazaars in the Middle East.
