In season 2 episode 6 (linked below) We discussed the political mechanisms and historical context of the christian conversion of the germanic folk. That was part 1 of what will probably be a 3 part series.

This weekend we will be recording part 2 where we will detail exactly how the germanic folk were spiritually manipulated into believing in a non native faith. We will discuss the specific methods the church used to convince us to willing enslave ourselves to a foreign god.

I respectfully disagree with Dan and Mr. McNallen here. Valhalla is specifically described as a place for the greatest fallen warriors for the exact purpose of fighting in the the final battle of Ragnarok.

If the job is to hire people to win a pivotal war, that requires those with the highest skill in violence. A guy who overcomes cancer or pulls himself out of post-divorce depression certainly deserves to be celebrated. But he's not a warrior.

I would ask both these gentlemen to demonstrate the source or even logic behind this gnosis.

Because if we can gnosis away very clearly stated aspects of our faith, what grounds do we have to refute uni blasphemers that claim the holy Goðín are actually homosexual?

I also find that it trivializes the greatness of warrior spirit by saying anybody can be a warrior which is a purely liberal presupposition.

In heathen ontology, your nature is determined. The quality of your soul is a birthright. Hence the castes described in Rigsthula. You're a warrior because you were born a warrior which was gifted to you by your father through his bloodline. It isn't a meritocracy where you can be a king if you try hard enough.

So I'd respectfully ask these great men what led them to this conclusion.

A bit of nuance here: a great warrior doesn't need to die in battle to go to Valhalla.

Remember the purpose of battle is to make your enemy die for his blood so you don't have to.

On wells

In 2011 a wood-lined well was discovered during construction work near the German city of Leipzig.

Buried more than 20 feet underground, preserved for millennia by cold, wet, oxygen–free conditions, the timber box at the bottom of the well was 7,000 years old, and the world’s oldest known intact wooden architecture.

Tree rings and tool marks were still visible, but it is not known what tools were used as there is no other Stone Age carpentry to even compare the marks to.

Alamanic combs found in male nobility graves at Untertürheim (above) and Niederstotzingen (below).
They are products of the native art of comb-making, which flourished especially in eastern Alamannia in the 6th and early 7th centuries.
During manufacture, attention was paid to the rich ornamentation and to the polychrome structure by means of different coloured decorative rivets.
The lower comb is 25.5 cm wide.

Contrary to what Hollywood, Netflix & Co. want you to believe, our ancestors were no cultureless, lice-ridden, dirty barbarians.
Hair and beard care was very important to them, as was personal hygiene. Roman authors commented on the soft soap of the Germanic tribes.
Beards were well-groomed, often partly shaved, a mustache was always part of the beard though. Many individuals, presumably of low social status, were clean shaved.

Long full beards, like jewish Rabbis and orthodox Christian priests wear them, were rather uncommon among our Germanic ancestors.

Take pride in your appearance. Others are watching.
Well groomed beards and hair are indicators of how well you manage other aspects of your life. People may not recognize that at a surface level of thought, but they know it on a deeper level.
Our ancestors took great pride in thier appearances, both in grooming and in dress. Remember that next time you reach for a hoodie or printed t-shirt when you're dressing for a moot or blot.

This is the meaning of Valhalla: you fight because if you die, you were fated to die—but you take your seat in the hall of the Valfather. If you live, you were fated to live—no force on earth could have killed you. The logic demands that you fight, always.

In one generation the ship would be righted.
