Your ancestors were better people than we are today as a society. They were more in touch with nature and the Gods, they had complex languages, spiritual wisdom, proverbial philosophy, and tripartite societal structures that were dharmic in alignment.
They had stronger bodies, minds, and will. They had a tribal/national cultural identity which both unified them but was also based in deeper cultural expression and even occult spirituality.
They founded nations, hordes, empires, mysteries, temples/churches, schools of thought, fighting styles, arts, farming.
Never dismiss the greatness of your ancestors. No matter who you are.
And anyone who tell you to is trying to brainwash you, enforce the removal of old heritage and if not pushing genocide is trying to enslave you. No matter who you are.

A description of an image of Thor at Thrandheim refers to a chariot drawn by goats, in which Thor sat:
"Thor sat in the middle. He was the most highly honoured. He was huge, and all adorned with gold and silver. Thor was arranged to sit in a chariot; he was very splendid. There were goats, two of them, harnessed in front of him, very well wrought. Both car and goats ran of wheels. The rope round the horns of the goats was of twisted silver, and the whole was worked with extremely fine craftsmanship." Flateyjarbók.
Skeggi, the man who took Olaf Tryggvason to the temple to see Thor, persuaded him to pull the cord round the horns of the goats, and when he did so, 'the goats moved easily along". Thereupon Skeggi declared that the king had done service to the god, and Olaf.. became angry, and called on his men to destroy the idols, while he himself knocked Thor from his chariot. The implication here is that the pulling along of a well-greased chariot formed part of a ritual in Thor's honour.

The Veizla or “Festival” is a sacred gathering that brings the folk together in a way that allows them to celebrate their culture and participate in communion with the divine.

The idea is that each festival contains various rites and traditions meant to increase the luck or fortune of the gathered as they progress throughout the year. There are three Veizlur that we have from our sources, for we are told by Óðinn himself that this is to be the case, as we see in Ynglingasaga ch. 8, under the four laws. Here he tells us “On Vetr there should be Blót for a good year (árs), and at Miðvetr for a good crop (gróðrar); and the third Blót should be on Sumarr, which is the Sigrblót.” These three festivals are respectively Vætrnóttum (“Winter Nights”), Jól (“Yule”), and Sumarmál (“Summer Meal”). For all the New Agers out there who like to claim that our ancestors did not have rules or sanctity in their religion, I believe this pretty much tears that entire idea down to dust, pulverizes it, buries it a hundred miles below the earth's surface, then leaves it forgotten for all time:

The Germanic Caste System & the Rígsþula

Part 2

A Caste System should not be confused with the more modern Class System that is solely based on financial wealth. An authentic Caste System had far more to do with patrilineal lineage, or adoption by a father of a specific Caste than wealth. You could be a very poor Noble standing next to a far wealthier Freeman, and it would not change your innate characteristics. One was the son of a great Kings or Chieftain, a ruler of men. The other was an (economically successful) average guy. It must also be said that if you clearly showed great talent and promise your position could change (and vice-versa if you were inept).

In the Rígsþula Háma (ON Heimdallr) created the Castes of our peoples. This system is the divinely ordained way to order our society, and thus for those of us that wish to remain true to the Gods should be implemented in some form in our revived communities. Let’s go through each one in turn, and see how this could translate today;

The Roman Catholic Church adopted Roman history when the Empire became Christian. Judea was under Roman rule at the time of Christ, so the melding of Biblical and Roman history came naturally. Thus, the Trojan War and the resulting migrations of heroes from there to found nations was the official version of world-history promoted by the Church at the time, and well-supported by "historical" documents such as the Aeneid and the Illiad, upon which the Aeneid is based. As learned men, Saxo and Snorri are simply repeating what they have learned in their studies. Snorri has simply grafted his native history, as found in the Eddic poems which Tacitus confirms were thought of ny Germanic peoples as their history, onto the Roman Catholic history he learned. Saxo says that Icelandic scholars in his time had amassed a great store of such narrative historical treasures. Snorri certianly had access to those written histories. Snorri was primarily a historian, which is clear from his Heimskringla, and believed Odin and his Asia-men to be ancient kings, who migranted to Northern Europe from Troy in Turkey (Prologue to Gylfaginning) and, as great sorcerers, fooled the native Europeans into believing they were gods. Snorri states this plainly in his Prose Edda and in Ynglingasaga. Saxo writing before Snorri places Odin and his Asia men as royalty in Byzantium (Constatinople) in Turkey. Neither Saxo nor Snorri needed to create this, it was the official version of history they learned from the Church. If you read the Prologue to Gylfaginning, Snorri's acceptance of the Roman Catholic version of history, which is a blend of Biblical and Roman History is crystal clear. He espouses the Biblical version of Creation, Noah's Ark and the Tower of Babel, then discusses the Trojan War. It's offical Roman Catholic history. To both of these authors, Odin's origin in Turkey was a historical fact learned from written sources. They are repeating what they have learned. Snorri simply embellishes it a bit more than Saxo does, and has Odin migrate to Europe rather than remain in Turkey, because Snorri had access to sources which place Odin among the Germanic people.

The Norse word hörgr means barrow but can also mean cairn (pile of stones) so some consider it originally referred to a primitive shrine made of stones.

Old English hlaewe just means barrow, whereas hearg can refer to either a kind of shrine/temple or to a cairn.

The use of these words hints at the interchangeable ritual function of barrows, temples and cairns.
