There are two ways to address a person in German:

With Sie and Du

When you siezt someone, itโ€™s an important person you donโ€™t see as a buddy or friend.

If, on the other hand, you duzt a person, it can be any other person (your friend, buddy,...)

Actually, you siezt people you donโ€™t know. Here on Telegram, we are all buddies so we can duzen us xD

Important persons:
-> Sie sind mein Lehrer
-> Ich danke ihnen

All others:
-> Kannst du mir helfen
-> Du bist mein bester Freund

But why do you do that?
There is a simple reason for that. Out of respect! You win people to whom you show respect.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Setze das passende Relativpronomen ein!

12 PROOFS THAT GERMAN IS A FUNNY LANGUAGE

German language, beautiful language: We can construct endlessly long words, have words that don't even exist in many languages - and a little something about punctuation or lower and upper case can make an immense difference.

However, we also have to admit that the saying "German language, difficult language" has its justification - because quite honestly, there are many examples of our language being simply strange and sometimes quite contradictory.

We like to think that learning our language is difficult: these 10 examples show how unpredictable the German language is.
