🌻🌻GEOGRAPHY OPTIONAL MAINS THROUGH READ OF THE DAY(ROTD):
Warming oceans, La Nina and reduced trade winds to fuel a hyperactive hurricane season for North Atlantic.
The Met Office also highlighted that the Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) – measured in terms of the combined intensity and duration of all storms in the ocean basin during a season – would be 212 compared to the long-term average of 121.
due to a confluence of factors, including near-record warm ocean temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean, development of La Nina conditions in the Pacific, reduced Atlantic trade winds and less wind shear, all of which tend to favor tropical storm formation.

Golden rice, so named because of its rich yellow colour, was genetically engineered to contain higher levels of the micronutrients iron and zinc in the grains while also producing beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A.
In 2021, the Philippines became the first country to approve commercial production of the rice variety.

State of the Ocean Report 2024-
The upper 2,000 metres (m) of oceans warmed at a rate of 0.32 Β± 0.03 watt per square metre (W/m2) from 1960 through 2023.Another consequence of increased greenhouse gas emissions from human activities is increased uptake of the Earth energy imbalance (EEI) by oceans.
It is expected to warm in the future as well, leading to irreversible changes in the centennial to millennial time scales.
The open ocean has been experiencing a continuous decline in pH (increase in acidic levels), with an average global surface ocean pH decline of 0.017-0.027 pH units per decade since the late 1980s.
