A coalition of 25 US states has sued the Donald Trump administration over its new tariffs of 10% to 12.5% on goods from 60 trading partners, calling them illegal and an attempt to replace earlier import taxes struck down by the US Supreme Court in February.

The lawsuit, filed in the US Court of International Trade, seeks to block the tariffs, have them declared unlawful and secure refunds for duties already collected.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has proposed increasing EU support for Morocco following last week's mass invasion into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, arguing that closer cooperation is needed to prevent similar incidents in the future.

In a letter to Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, von der Leyen described Morocco as a key partner in managing irregular migration and called for expanded financial and operational assistance, after an estimated 72,000 Islamists invaded Ceuta in a single day in one of the largest border breaches ever recorded on the EU's external frontier.
