3 men were killed yesterday (Monday), when 2 teenagers opened fire at the Islamic Center of San Diego, the county’s largest mosque, in an attack authorities are investigating as a hate crime.

The assailants, 17-year-old Cain Clark and 18-year-old Caleb Velasquez, comitted suicide by shooting themselves in a vehicle nearby, where investigators found anti-Islamic writings and other hate-related evidence.

The mother of one of the 2 killers had alerted police earlier that her son was missing, suicidal, and armed with guns, but officers were unable to locate the teens before the shooting.
