PM Modi today said that the situation in West Asia (Middle East) was a matter of grave concern.

• Economic pain - Oil price spike + Strait of Hormuz risks → inflation surge; potential Gulf job losses cut remittances (huge lifeline) → worsens fragile economy.

• Sectarian flare-up - Could worsen Sunni-Shia tensions domestically, risking more violence.

• Govt condemned strikes, called for calm, banned gatherings, deployed forces/army in hotspots - but it's a volatile mix of religion, security, and economy turning into a real crisis.
