OpenAI launches ChatGPT-5

▪️OpenAI on Thursday released a keenly awaited fifth generation of its hallmark ChatGPT, touting it as smarter and faster than predecessors, as artificial intelligence edges closer to outthinking people.

ChatGPT-5 is rolling out free to all users of the AI tool, which is used by nearly 700 million people weekly, OpenAI said in a briefing with journalists.

OpenAI has released GPT-5 — the smartest model from the company. There are four versions available: base GPT-5, pro, mini, and nano.

Key points:

– Surpasses all OpenAI models in major benchmarks. GPT-5 pro scored 100% on the AIME benchmark;
– Hallucinates less than o3 and GPT-4o;
– Decides on its own when reasoning or a simple answer is needed;
– Trained on data up to October 2024;
