🇮🇱🇺🇸 — Representative Thomas Massie has delivered a speech memorializing the IDF's unprovoked and intentional attack on the U.S Navy Belmont-class technical research ship USS Liberty on June 8, 1967 and honoring its survivors.

Massie has also called for a new investigation into the IDF's attack on the USS Liberty and called on Congress to give justice to the survivors of the attack by passing a resolution honoring them.

🇺🇸🇮🇱 — 59 years ago today, the U.S. Navy Belmont-class technical research ship USS Liberty, flying the American flag and sailing under weather conditions that made the flag visible, was deliberately attacked over the span of 75 minutes by two Mirage III fighter jets, two Super Mystére fighter-bombers, and two torpedo boats. The attack was only terminated once the IDF believed the ship was sinking; however, it was saved by its crew. Topedo boats and machine guns also fired upon life boats preparing for launch, a sign the IDF intended to leave no survivors.

No punishment whatsoever was given to any members of the IDF that conducted the attack. President Lyndon B. Johnson and Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara covered up the truth about the attack to avoid damaging US-Israel relations.

Even the survivors were disrespected by the US government. They were awarded the Presidential Unit Citation in 1968 by Johnson but weren't formally given the award by 1991. President George H.W. Bush was not in attendance for the medal ceremony, instead just waving at them in passing.

🇺🇸 — New York Times, citing two people briefed on the incident, reports that a U.S. Army AH-64 "Apache" attack helicopter crashed near the Strait of Hormuz today on Monday, June 8. Both pilots were rescued. It is unclear how the helicopter crashed.

Apaches are part of CENTCOM's package used as part of their attempts to reverse Iranian control of the Strait of Hormuz, and have flown numerous sorties in the waterway.

🇺🇸 — CENTCOM never acknowledged the loss of this helicopter, and President Trump's spokesman & CENTCOM both didn't respond to NYT's request for comment. This is the first time an AH-64 "Apache" helicopter has been lost as part of the Iran War, regardless of how it crashed.

❗️🇺🇸 - In the latest legal setback for President Trump, a Federal judge overturned the proposed $100,000 fee for new H-1B visa applications.

H-1B visas are designed for high-skilled tech jobs that are difficult to fill with the native labor pool. Large technology companies are the biggest users and nearly 75% of H-1B visas are granted to workers from India.

President Trump ability to enact policy is becoming increasingly restricted due to challenges from both the judicial and legislative branches. The Supreme Court ruled against the tariff, a Trump's flagship policy, back in February 2026.

Although the Republicans hold a majority in both Chambers, the President has had a difficult time uniting lawmakers behind his agenda. The SAVE Act, a key piece of Trump's legislative agenda targeting the voting process, recently failed the Senate.

🇺🇸❌🇨🇳 - The Pentagon adds some of Chinese biggest technology firms into 'blacklist' for alleged ties to the Chinese military.

Entry into the 1260H list does not automatically trigger a sanction, but it significantly complicates the companies' business with US entities and especially the US government.

Notable targets of this measure include Alibaba, Baidu, BYD, Nio...

China is widely expected to retaliate.

❗️🇫🇷🇩🇪🇪🇺 - France and Germany scrap 100-billion Euro joint fighter jet program as commercial disagreement proved insurmountable.

The project, launched in 2017 by Macron and former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, would see Airbus and Dassault Aviation work together on one fighter jet model. Had the program been successful, it would drastically reduce development cost per unit, increase interoperability of the European armed forces and present a major challenge to the US defense manufacturers.

The project has hit a dead end, however, as the two companies squabble over control, intellectual properties and technical specifications. Macron and Merz had tried for months to bridge the differences before announcing the suspension.

Europe is pursuing an ambitious rearmament program to contain the Russian threat and at the same time reduce the continent dependence on American weapons.

The German trade union IG Metall, which represents over 2 million industrial workers, welcomes the decision to scrap the project, saying it is in the interest of German aviation industry and its workers.
