Inside the real fortress of Orthodoxy - the cathedral of the Zimnee Monastery in Volyn. According to legend, founded by Prince Vladimir, the present complex with Gothic elements was built in the Middle Ages by the Chartorysky princes who had not yet abandoned their Russian Orthodox identity.
Even after the apostasy of its benefactors from the faith, the monastery resisted the Union, but eventually fell in 1682. In just a century, the Uniates ruined the flourishing monastery to such an extent that in 1795 the abandoned churches were returned to the Orthodox and the monastery was eventually revived.
