Ibn Hazm al-Andalusi:

No calamity is there in the world equal to separation: if the souls of men should flow out of their bodies by reason of it-and much more the tears out of their eyes-it were but little to wonder at.

A certain philosopher, on hearing a man remark that separation was the brother of death, said, โ€œNay, but death is the brother of separationโ€.

New book!

A newly published book by Imam and Judge, Mundhir ibn Saโ€™d al-Bulluti al-Andalusi on the explanation of the Mudawana, a collection of legal opinions of the school of Madina as stated by Imam Malik ibn Anas. The book was compiled by Imam Sahnun.

This explanation focuses on being precise on explaining the meanings of difficult words and pointing out any words that common people and scholars might be confused about.

Two researchers from Morocco, Ustadh Abd al-Ghani Idโ€™aykal and Ustadh Anas Salim have taken the job of the Tahqiq of the book. Both of these researchers do a great job in Tahqiq in our time now and are both well known in Morocco.

It is worth mentioning that Imam Mundhir ibn Saโ€™d would give legal judgments and Fatawa based on the Maliki Madhab but in private and by personal choice he was a follower of the Dhahiri Madhab as stated by Ustadh Anas Salim.

Some pictures of a project in reviving Andalusian-Maghribi calligraphy in manuscript form. The work is extremely beautiful and I hope to see more like this and will continue to grow, inโ€™shaaโ€™Allah.

The work has been done by calligrapher Ustadh Badr Essaihi (@badr_essaihi), geometric floral design by Ustadh Fouad Blili (@fouad_blili), leather craftsmanship by Furkan Yoldas (@furkanyoldas_), and photographer Khalil SK (@khalil_sk).

I would advise everyone to check out their social media accounts on Instagram and see more pictures of art.

An interesting yet sad story about this book.

It was said that after the author wrote this book he was murdered.

There was a group that was residing in al-Andalus and migrated to Morocco when al-Andalus fell into the hands of the Catholics. This group was against the Maliki Madhab and its Usul.

A Maliki scholar by the name of Abu al-Abbas al-Waryakili as-Saghir wrote a strong rebuttal against this group and defended the Maliki school. This group could not handle this refutation and it was said that it led to Shaykh al-Waryakili being killed.

This book has been published for the first time by Ihya Center For Research and Studies in Cairo.
