al-Qadi Abu Bakr Ibn al-Arabi al-Andalusi was one of the major scholars and judges of the Muslim world. Although he was from al-Andalus which was a place of Islamic learning, he traveled to Sham and Iraq to gain more knowledge.
When the Imam was in Palestine, he visited one of its major cities, Nablus. (which is a twin city to Damascus). Here is what he said about it:
โIt's a valley between two mountains. Full of rivers, fruits, shades, and cold flowing water. It's a city of abundant blessings and always full of safety.โ

Ibn Hazm and Samuel ibn Naghrillah
Samuel ibn Naghrillah was an author of many Jewish works and was an authority to the Jews in the city of Granada, Al-Andalus.
He was famously known to be a Wazir (or prime minister) to one of the rulers of a Taifa (Muslim kingdom that was fighting other Muslim kingdoms). Samuel led many battles in defense of this Taifa.
Ibn Hazm, the famous polyglot and Muslim scholar, knew Samuel ibn Naghrillah and had a feud with him. Ibn Hazm didnโt like the idea of a Jewish figure having high power in Al-Andalus and in response wrote a refutation to him and to Jewish people in general.
Ibn Hazm had personal knowledge of Judaism through his interaction with Jews in Medieval Iberia and was easily able to access Jewish many works. He was also able to have some knowledge of Hebrew.
Although Ibn Hazm was criticized by Muslim scholars for his views in jurisprudence and theology, his works related to the Jews are interesting to read. Especially for a student of knowledge to dive deeper into critical analysis.
It is surprising to see many academics and even orientalists in the western world have paid attention to the works of ibn Hazm and have written some articles related to his interaction with Jews in Al-Andalus.

From what the people of Palestine and the ancestors of Andalusians share in common are keys. Keys from a house that were passed on from generation to generation. Houses that were full of joy, meals that mothers cooked and where children played in. Generations that witnessed ethnic cleansing, lands stolen and forced conversions.
Some Andalusian families in North Africa still hold on to keys that were from their ancestral homes in al-Andalus and some families in Palestine still hold on to the keys of their ancestral homes that they lost after being displaced.

Recently I visited the International Arabic Book Fair in Istanbul. There were many books and talks from a number of scholars and academics. One of the talks that I attended in person was about al-Andalus from the academic Dr. Ali Alnagrat. I met him at last year's Arabic Book Fair and got familiar with his publication house and his work on Al-Andalus. He is a kind man who has much knowledge and works dedicated to Andalusian History. He currently resides in the UK.

I recently read an article send by my friend Ali Al-Andalusi that talks about the Muslim community in Spain. Many Spaniards are becoming Muslim and some are even finding out they have Morisco ancestry!

According to official records, the Muslim population in Spain has multiplied tenfold over the past three decades, surpassing 2.5 million individuals. Non-official estimates suggest that the number of Muslims in the country may be closer to 3 million. Within this diverse community, 40 percent are Spanish converts, while the remaining 60 percent are immigrants, primarily from Morocco. However, other nationalities such as Pakistani and Senegalese also contribute to the vibrant Muslim presence in cities like Barcelona, Valencia, and Logrono.โ
