Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Mamar from Abu'l-Hubab Said ibn Yasar that Abu Hurayra said, . "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
.
'Allah, the Blessed, the Exalted, will say on the Day of Rising, "Where are those who loved each other for My majesty? Today I will shade them in My shade on the day when there is no shade except My shade.""

Imām ibn Abd al-Barr al-Andalusī said in his book of the explanation of Muwata, at-Tamhīd:

The meaning of this Hadith is Clear (واضح) in the Virture (فضل) of those who loved each other (المتحابين) for the Sake of Allah.

Imām Sufyān ath-Thawrī رحمه الله said:

اسلكوا سبيل الحقّ ولا تستوحشوا من قلّة أهله

❝Prusude the path of Truth and do not feel lonely from to the small (amount) of its people.❞

Interesting book for the Andalsuī history lovers!

A book on many southern Andalusī authorities during the Nasrid era (15th Century) in Granda and Málaga, that granted Ijaza to the judge ibn al-Azrāq al-Mālikī and his son.

Will check out this book. In'shaa'Allah.

I have requested a PDF of this article. Will post some interesting debates from it.

Al-Muhala from Ibn Hazm is a master piece. Imam Dhahabi once mentioned it's a must have for a Faqih. Many times ibn Hazm pokes at the Malikiyah and their opinions...

There is was also a big response from the Malikiyah as well back on him during that era.

Qāḍī Abū Bakr b.al-ʿArabī (d. 543/1148) in his al-ʿAwāṣim min al-qawāṣim

Though he was somewhat harsh in his criticism of his opponents

He states:

One of the Umayyads arrived in these lands [i.e., al Andalus] where heen countered a strong attachment [to the Umayyads and their cause]. The people revolted together with him and he manifested justice. He said: I shall defend the sunna

; for there is no jurisprudence but that of the people ofMedina and no reading [of the Qurʾān] but theirs. He thus compelled peopleto act according to the school of Mālik and to recite the Qurʾān according to the transmission of Nāfi. He did not allow people to investigate and chooseregarding the requirements of proof when this departed from the opinion ofthe Medinese. This was due to the fact that they, that is, the Umayyads, saw Mālik’s veneration of their forebears . . . 


He later says:

Whenever someonearrived from the East with [new] knowledge, they harassed and disparaged him, unless he outwardly maintained the Mālikī rite and made whatever sci-ence he possessed subject to it.
