🔷Ibn Badīs, an Algerian scholar and reformist, while the French colonialists were in the process of removing the veil which then covered the face from Muslim women, he said:

"If you want the real reformation of it, remove the veil of ignorance before you want to remove it from her face. Indeed it is the veil of ignorance that has held back her progress. For the girls of Baghdad, Cordoba and those of Béjaïa (Algeria) attained a high level of knowledge while veiled. "

🔷The way the people of Knowledge dressed in al-Andalus.

From the most astonishing things is that the Students and Muhadithīn of Córdoba used to memorize wearing clothing of hoods.

Although they were raised in a foreign environment (al-Andalus), that environment differed with Arabs in their Habits. Like how Imām Mālik said: “Turbans and slippers are from the ways the Arabs in the past. These habits are rarely done by non-Arabs.”

🔷One of the reasons Yahyā ibn Yahyā al-Laythi al-Andalusī (student of Imām Mālik) sought seeking knowledge, was because (one day) he was passing Zayd ibn Abd al-Rahmān al-Lakhmī al-Andalusī (a top scholar of Hadith and Fiqh) and he was sitting having a conversation with his companion. And astonishing Zayd was (on what he did)! Imām Zayd said to him, “My son! If you were dedicated on learning take from your hair and fix your clothes!” (He means to cover his head)

The companion of Zayd was in clothing of a servant. So Imam ibn Yahya did that and strove hard in teaching until he surpassed the students of Zayd.

🔶Note: Zayād ibn Abd ar-Rahmān al-Lakhmī al-Qurtubī, is the the first who entered the Muwata to the land of al-Andalus.

🔷al-Andalus: Cities of lights

John G. Jackson, A well known researcher on African history said:

Córdoba in the 10th century was much like a modern city. The streets were paved and there were raised sidewalks for pedestrians. At night “one could travel for 10 miles by the light of lamps along an uninterrupted extend buildings.” This was several hundred years before there was a paved street in Paris or a street-lamp in London.

🔷The necessary adab when mentioning reports about the Prophet (ﷺ)

al-Qādī ‘Iyad said:

When someone speaks, either in the course of study or when teaching, about what is permitted for the Prophet and what is not permitted regarding his states he must, as we mentioned in the (another) previous section, show esteem and respect for him. He must be careful about what he says and not be careless. The signs of adab should be apparent on him when he mentions the Prophet. If he mentions the hardships the Prophet endured, he should show apprehension and grief, and antipathy towards his enemies, and wish that he could have protected the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, from it if he had been able to and to have helped him if it had been possible.

🔷The Prophet’s (ﷺ) protection from wrong actions

Al-Qadi Iyad said:

The truth should by now be clear to you that the Prophet was protected from being ignorant of Allah and His attributes in any way. Logically and by consensus, the Prophet was protected before prophethood from being in any state at all which was incompatible with knowledge, and he was protected after it according to oral reports and transmission. It is absolutely impossible both logically and by the Shari‘a itself, that the Prophet should have been ignorant of anything concerning the Shari‘a he confirmed or concerning the revelation he conveyed from his Lord. The Prophet was also protected from telling lies and making contradictory statements either intentionally or unintentionally from the time Allah made him a Prophet and sent him as a Messenger. Such things are impossible for him according to the Shari‘a, by consensus, by examination and by proof. He was also absolutely free of those things before he was a Prophet.

My theory is further proved by the fact that you will never find two persons in love with one another without there being some likeness and agreement of natural attributes between them.

This condition must definitely obtain, even if only to a small degree; the more numerous the resemblances, the greater will be their congeneity and the firmer their affection. It is only necessary to look for this, and you will see it quite plainly on all hands.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) confirmed the matter when he said,

"Souls are like conscripted soldiers; those whom they recognize, they come together, and whom they do not recognize, they stay away.”

[Sahih Muslim]

A pious person is reported as having stated,

"The spirits of believers become aquatinted with one another.”
