The Amīr, Yoūsef Ibn Tashfīn who unified the Muslims in Al-Andalus helped established this city with its construction and it’s architectural land.

♦️Abbas ibn Firnas al-Andalusī

Lost and forgotten history from the Andalusians but to be revived in the hearts of the people.

Ibn Firnas was a famous Berber man from Ronda, al-Andalus, born around 194 A.H (810) He was known for his many skills in invention, medicine, poetry, etc.

He was known to be the first person ever to make a successful attempt in flying. After constructing his own machine in flying, he took flight successfully while onlookers observed. But he eventually hurt himself while trying to land after flying at high speed.

He later learned the reason why he crashed landed after observing the tails of birds and he needed to build a tail like invention for landing as well.

The Algerian Maliki scholar and famous historian from Telcem, Ahmed Mohammed al-Maqqarī, who also wrote a giant work on the history of al-Andalus said about the event:

“Among other very curious experiments which he made, one is his trying to fly. He covered himself with feathers for the purpose, attached a couple of wings to his body, and, getting on an eminence, flung himself down into the air, when according to the testimony of several trustworthy writers who witnessed the performance, he flew a considerable distance, as if he had been a bird, but, in alighting again on the place whence he had started, his back was very much hurt, for not knowing that birds when they alight come down upon their tails, he forgot to provide himself with one.”
