A new translation of Qadi Iyad’s Tartib al-Madarik has recently been published by Diwan Press, translated by Aisha Bewley.
Tartib al-Madarik is one of the most important biographical works in the Maliki tradition.
I have personally benefited from Aisha Bewley’s translations over the years as well as from many of the publications by Diwan Press.

New Book!
I am very excited for this one. Anyone who knows me knows that one of my favorite scholars is Imam Ibn Juzay, a distinguished Andalusian scholar from al-Andalus. And among my favorite of his works is his tafsir.
Soon, In shaa Allah, the English translation of his tafsir will finally be on bookshelves. What I love most about this tafsir is how easy it is to read. The explanations are not overly lengthy but you will find much barakah and benefit from reading it. It is one of the best Tafsirs for one learning Arabic to start off with.
Imam Ibn Juzay was also a scholar of the Maliki madhhab, which makes this tafsir valuable for students of Maliki fiqh as well.
It is translated by Aisha Bewley who does amazing work, long with a foward by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and revised by Dr. Sohaib Saeed.

A special thanks to sister Ayesha Sharieff for inviting me to give a talk on the topic of al-Andalus and its impact on the world at her homeschooling program based in Texas.
During the presentation, I spoke about important figures such as Ibn Rushd and his influence on Europeans, al-Zahrawi and his surgical tools and medical writings that were relied upon in Europe for centuries, along with several other major scholars from al-Andalus.

The Sword of Boabdil
It is said that this is the sword of Sultan Abu Abdallah Muhammad XII (Boabdil), the last Muslim ruler of Granada and the final sultan of al-Andalus.
Today, the sword is at a museum in Madrid. Whether it truly belonged to Boabdil or not, the sword has long been associated with his name and shows the style of arms used by Andalusians.
It is said that this is the sword of Sultan Abu Abdallah Muhammad XII (Boabdil), the last Muslim ruler of Granada and the final sultan of al-Andalus.

For the first time, an explanation of one of the works of Ibn al-Haytham has been published!
Ibn al-Haytham known in the West as Alhazen was one of the greatest scientists of the Islamic world. He made major contributions to astronomy, mathematics, and optics. Many of his works influenced both the Islamic and European scientific feild for centuries.
The commentary is by Ibn Hisham al-Lakhmi, a scholar from Sebta, north Morocco who was known to engage in debates with other scholars and left behind a number of books. He passed away in Sevile, now Spain.
I am especially excited for this publication, as I have recently been going deeper into the study of astronomy.
The edition has been annotated by Ustadh Badr al-Umrani, a teacher of a university in Tetouan, Morocco. He has produced valuable tahqiqat and has done important work in preserving texts from the Maliki tradition.

Ibn Zaydun Park, Agadir
While exploring Agadir, I came across a park named after Ibn Zaydun, one of the most famous poets of al-Andalus.
Abu al-Walid Ibn Zaydun (1003–1071 CE) was born in Cordoba and is widely regarded as one of the greatest poets of Muslim Spain. He lived during a turbulent period of the collapse of the Umayyad Caliphate.
It is a beautiful and calm park. After 1000 years after his death, his name continues to be remembered. From the streets of Cordoba to a park here in Agadir.

New Books! 📚
I'm always excited to see new editions of classical works from the Islamic scholarly tradition of al-Andalus. Here are some new publications:
1. Bidayat al-Mujtahid — Imam Ibn Rushd
A new edition of Bidayat al-Mujtahid by the great Maliki jurist, philosopher and judge of Cordoba, Ibn Rushd (known as Averroes in the west), has been published. Considered one of the finest works in comparative fiqh, the book presents the opinions of the major schools of law. This edition has been annotated by Muhannad Yahya Ismail, who has also produced tahqiqat of other works, including al-Burdah.
2. Two Andalusian Classics in Maliki Usul al-Fiqh
This new publication brings together two important works in Maliki legal theory (Usul al-Fiqh) by Imam Ibn Juzay and Imam Ibn 'Asim, two of Granada's most distinguished scholars. The edition has been annotated by Shaykh Abdul Karim Qabul, one of the leading scholars of our time of the Maliki madhhab. He has been doing an amazing job in tahqiqat over the years.

A new publication of the commentary on the Alfiyyah of Ibn Malik, written by the author's own son, has recently been released. The edition has been prepared by Ali al-Ghazali, a promising young scholar currently studying in Egypt, with revision by Shaykj Fudi Kunati, one of today's leading teachers of Arabic.
4. Ibn Khaldun and Ibn Arafah: A Comparative Study
This work presents a comparative study of the ideas of Imam Ibn Khaldun and Imam Ibn Arafah. It is authored by Ustadh Fuad ibn Ahmed, one of the leading contemporary researchers in Islamic philosophy.
5. Al-Asrar wa al-Ibar — Imam al-Turtushi
Al-Turtushi was a renowned Maliki jurist originally from Tortosa in al-Andalus (present-day Spain). He later settled in Alexandria, where he became one of the leading scholars of his time and was well known for his opposition to the Isma'ili Fatimid state.
In this work, Imam al-Turtushi offers a critique of Imam al-Ghazali. It is a book intended for advanced students especially those interested in scholarly debates within the Sunni tradition. Despite these criticisms, the works of Imam al-Ghazali have remained widely accepted and studied by scholars in the Islamic world.
6. Ma'ani Alfaz al-Qur'an — Imam al-Bagha'i
Originally from the city of Baghaia (present-day Algeria), this Imam later became a teacher at the Great Mosque of Cordoba. His work focuses on meanings of Qur’anic words
